AP Reports :
Italy to deploy 3,000 soldiers in cities to help fight crime

In an effort to enhance security around key commercial and tourist centers the government of Italy announced that as many as 1000 military guards will be deployed.

The reason of course is the recent international threats having been made by the likes of Al Qaida and other Islamist thugs against "Western" interests along with a plague of illegal immigrants occupying Italian cities. Like Naples ...

And for the inquiring mind some background on where those "Immigrants" are coming from Libya

Of course the socialist opposition is claiming that the new "right wing" government is only doing this to cover up the fact that the domestic security forces budgets have been slashed. But like Leftist opposition parties everywhere they conveniently forget or just neglect to mention that those budgets were slashed under their governance. Also right on que and conveniently the Police Unions complain about the action.

Of course the scribes of AP don't bother to contribute any background to their report or question the assertions of the leftists and unions. However a passing mention of one of the REAL concerns behind the government action in this interesting excerpt:

An additional 2,000 troops will be used to beef up security at "sensitive sites," including holding centres where illegal immigrants are detained while authorities work to expel them.
