A Christmas Friday Beer

Wonderful thing this day ... family, presents, good things to eat and drink......

Say hello to Traquair Jacobite Ale.

A beer it seems that is worthy of sharing on this hallowed day. After all beer itself is a gift from God and as such we should show our due appreciation.... Thank you.

I admit to indulging somewhat selfishly in a few personal treats every year at this time, and this year I meant to catch up on the new brews in the LC store .

And so this year found a bounty of fresh samples to partake of..... One of which: A product of Scotland's Traquair House Brewery ... this wonderful beverage shows all the love that a fine craftsman can put into a product.

Brewed to celebrate the anniversary of the 1745 Jacobite rebellion the ale is based on an eighteenth century recipe the is spiced with coriander which gives a remarkably fresh aftertaste.

The pour delivers a smart looking tawny head that hangs around until the first draught. The body is a rich burnt caramel colour and barely passes a backlight through the still liquid.

The nose is a pleasant and stimulating combination of sweet fresh cut summer grass with the mouth watering aromas of bake shop.

The palate is a real treat that that gives the impression of an almost coffee like tartness that is mellowed and refreshed by the herbal and citrus quality of the hops. The malts reprise the earlier bakeshop aromas on the taste buds and the overall quality is sweetness with a clean finish. The mouth feel is just a little creamy and everything finishes with a clean and refreshed sensation.
Personally .. I cannot tell that there is coriander in the mix but for me the whole experience is just a pleasure and leaves me wanting more.

Other opinions are Quite Positive as well .....

What better way to celebrate such an important birthday?

Peace on Earth and Goodwill to men.

Cheers!

Yes it is Gino ..... the great failing of the Jacobites was trusting the French ...... a fatal mistake that no one should ever repeat.

Scotland may yet prove to be the salvation of the Isles.

you may be right.
i'm not much knowledgable bout the brits, but i've heard/read that england is no place for an englishman anymore.
immigration has left london with a decidely colorful demographic. the english are a vanishing species, and with them, their culture, history and sense of pride.

and from a geopolitical perspective, the english have more to be proud of than any other people. its a shame.

the only thing left is for P Wm to marry an african or indian, produce royal hiers, and complete the transformation.
