The Snarley is ultra horny looking! Being from Winnepeg, I am quite suspecting that you knew my very dear friend of 22 years, Jon Andres? I am also a back country snomobiling absolute freak!

A very cool blog, Sir... I am adding you to my bloglist and I will make yours a frequent visiting spot.

Best wishes to you...

Upon seeing and following the link (I couldn't concentrate on anything but the bike earlier!) I am now wondering if the Confed is yours or just something you also found appealing?

The reason I asked about whether you knew Mr. Andres is that he had a very well known shop in Winnepeg (Precision Cycle) before moving to Abbotsford, BC (1990 ish?)and opening another (JARZ Performance). I have been to Winnepeg and know that it is a good sized city, but thought if you were into HD's, you would likely have known Jon when he was there. He was killed on Aug. 11, '01 on the dragstrip at Spokane, WA. after a horrendous Top Fuel bike crash...

I never met Jon and I am sorry to hear he fell like that.... I would spend time at the shops when I first moved here in the early 80's but I cannot recall what Precision was into..were they an HD dealer?

I used to run around on a 74' Norton with a "combat" ( high compression ) engine with Dunstall stageIII cam around that time ....I've owned a number of bikes from little 1960's Honda's and Yam's to modified Litre Bikes....That Confederate "Hellcat" is what I have on my wish list (for now)

Schweet bike... I sold my last bike because I was afraid I would kill myself on it. Too fast and too many idiotic drivers around who seemed to think I would be a good hood ornament. Eventually, I'll be riding again... but the next one will be a cruiser.

I promise that if I can nail down one of my current business opportunities...I'm putting my order in for a "Hellcat" asap.

Just getting back to do a tardy follow-up. Yes, Jon was an independent HD shop, but an extremely high end, well known one. He was originally from Thompson. He set his shop up there in Winnepeg around 1981'ish. It was very successful.

I'm sorry you didn't know him... he was one helluva talent and an amazing, friendly and humble personality. He left a huge void in my own and many other folk's hearts.

Hope you eventually realize your dream of owning a Hellcat. That 113" S&S motor has potential far beyond its' original output. (One of my customer's is producing 134 HP @ the rear wheel and routinely wins our dyno shoot-outs around here.)

I well remember the Combat Commando. Early on in my career I used to work on a ton of them. They were, ane remain, very classic and cool items.

Best regards to you...
