Man In The Kitchen!
What you see directly below are the ingredients for scones.
Thats: 3 cups of flour with a tsp. of salt, 3 tsp baking powder, 1tsp sugar and 1/4 cup of lard already cut in. She's waiting for those 2 egg yolks and just enough milk to hold it to together.
I used the egg whites to baste the top and gave'r 15 min. at 450 f.....
This is how it came out!
Since I had some time and the baking stuff was out I used the same approach to making some corn bread!
That's 1cup flour, 2cups cornmeal, everything else the same but enough milk to make it almost pour onto the pan. No egg basting the top..... turn the oven down to 400f and gave'r 20 min.
On the table just about to be made to disappear with some chili !!
