A Weekend Backyard Beer ..........

Just Because!


The air temperature a beautiful 23 C.

My back yard 27 .... sun shining ... a light breeze to moderate the warmth.

Late afternoon and a full weekend of spring chores behind me.

In Manitoba terms this IS summer!



And so.............. what could be more appropriate than a summer brew?





So, let me introduce you to Summer Lighting Ale from Hop Back Brewery of Batten Road, Salisbury.

That's England Mate! And this is a product they can be proud of.

A great looking 500 ml bottle chilled to below 5 C in my beer fridge and my favourite happy glass matched. She pours golden and slightly cloudy in the sunlight and offers a lively effervescent body topped by just a wisp of white froth.

Up comes the happy glass and we get a houseful of citrus hopiness with some (just a little) malt and flowers in the background.

A full draught delivers a greatly appreciated palate wash to take the dust and heat off. A touch of dry bitterness in the hops and a clean and cleansing finish.

Perfect! No exaggeration here .... this beer is a perfect thirst quencher for a hot day.
No sugar .... no syrup .... no unnecessary froth ... plenty of flavour ..... just right!
