A four-year veteran of the Regina police force is accused of assaulting a 25-year-old man who was in police custody.
Const. Colin B. Belcourt, 28, was charged Tuesday. He was on duty at the time of the alleged use of excessive force. Belcourt is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 27.
Regina police will conduct their own internal process, police said.
Belcourt was reassigned to administrative duties pending the outcome of the court case.
