Back to Work ....

Why the hell does my employer think that opening the plant and office for three days is a good idea?

This is beyond me................... the only reason I have for going to work for the next three days is that the policy also makes it mandatory.

If you don't show up or if you have not pre-booked vacation time (which can be denied at the management's whim) then you do not get paid for the statutory holiday (Jan  1st).

Besides the fact that I am a salaried employee it seems to me that if I choose to not go to work ... and give up the pay for those three days... then that should have not a damned thing to do with receiving the statutory pay.

Time for a new job !

File this one under failed HR policies.

Sometimes our socialist utopia isn't quite as socialist as we'd like it to be. I started working for the school division 13 days before Easter, think I got paid for Easter Monday? Nope, and that's unionized labour to boot...

Made it through the week .... barely.

Onward and upward ... this cowboy needs some R&R ... away from the dreary day to day.

Happy new year!

my shop is the same way. it was to prevent people from calling off for extended holidays, which puts a major kink in the production lines.

in my shop, you have to work the day before AND after every holiday.

i dont like it, but i cant see how we can run a production plant any other way.
