Hot on the heels of the news headline consuming California Brush/Home/City/Arson Fires that occupied their tiny brains for about 2 solid weeks .... the MSM .... and specifically Canada's prodigious Newswire service ....

Yep .... what a great opportunity to start a bandwagon for the ignorant and gullible to start "Demanding" action by the federal government .... who "obviously" must be asleep at the switch when it comes to fire fighting in Canada!!!
Never mind that FACTS are that it was OUR water bombers and fire crews who actually got those California fires under control.
Never mind the FACT that our special fire fighting services are THE BEST IN THE WORLD!
Never mind that we have proven year after freekin year that we are capable of dealing with the WORST scenarios when it comes to fighting fires of all types.

Dang Ommag..we have the exact same whiners here..lol.
Forestry is a Provincial matter, has nothing to do with the Feds.
I was a member of the B.C. Forest Service for 11 years, and fought dozens of fires.
We DO need more aerial tankers,big ones. I don't know why the U.S. military hasn't sold some of its old Hercules aircraft to outfits like Conair (Abbotsford,B.C.) who convert them to water bombers. The biggest plane in widespread use we have right now is the converted DC-6, which carries about 25% of the load a Herc could lift. The old Martin Mars, while still viable, should really be retired to a museum, planes that old shouldn't have to bear the burden any more.
First fire I ever fought in B.C., got bombed by one of the Mars, with a heavy load of Phos-check, got totally covered in Red. When I jumped into a harrodyke tank later that day, I came out clean as a whistle. That stuff was a great laundry detergent!

What I read about Conair and the purchase of new planes was that the BC Government refused to pony up with their part of the costs.
