Friday's Beer!
I wasn't sure I had anything to write about for this week.
That is until a package arrived from the headquarters of the NBP!!
God Bless You Darcey!
Now the question is which ONE?
Eeeny Meeny Miney .... Moe >>>>
It's Black Butte Porter ! ... 12 floz at 5.2% abv in a cool decorated glass bottle with a nice pictorial label....
This one comes open with a nice little pop and hiss. Pours into a dark body as expected and a healthy head of tawny foam that settles down to a mere skim in just a minute.
The aroma is just what you'd expect from a porter and maybe just a touch extra. Very caramel and bakery like with a nice overtone of hops. An almost spice like blend that is very pleasing to my nose.
With the taste buds warmed up a sip produces a round sort of flavour that has earmarks of chocolate and butter and citrus. It's all very smooth in texture and leaves a nice clean palate and a sort of grainy sensation in the finish.
Not bad at all and I'd recommend her to anyone with a taste for dark beers or just a curiosity for something from off the beaten track. I'd drink another one with something like a Hero Sandwich and a side of crisp fries.
I'm going to head on over to Dust My Broom to see what Darcey has for Blues and Brew tonight!
Friday Night Blues & Beer
Cheers!
