I don't dispute the facts ... just the tone!
If you don't see the difference there is no way of explaining it to you.

Well, I'm guessing you have no problem with the tone of "Canadian Troops".
"Kill"...well, hard to find another word for that, isn't it?
"Two"...seems pretty straightforward, in terms of "tone".
"Children"...there, I admit, there's some wiggle room. I guess they could have said "Larval Terrorists", or "Pre-Suicide Bombers". Would that tone have been preferable?
Your guessing is as fuzzy as your powers of observation and as shaky as you grasp of the situation.
