Where Is The Responsibility?

Frankly,
When I read this news item: A Bartender charged with manslaughter for allowing a drunk to drink herself to death!

I was tempted to respond with a comment or two about just what a 22 year old drunk with two guys in a bar does when she gets piss drunk and goes home to her other male room mate with the first two in tow. Or maybe where they were and what they were doing before they even wound up in the Skip? The mind edges toward images of vomit and other bodily functions beyond voluntary control as the oxygen starved brain of the drunk slips into oblivion.

But then I thought that poor Tammy is a victim and should not be blamed for the consequences of her actions.

And then following that train of thought......

So .... when the alcoholics who buy at the liquor store die from their addiction will the store owners be charged with murder??

One distinguishing characteristic of Liberalism seems to be the pathological need to blame someone else whenever anyone does anything stupid. And keep in mind that it took over a year for the justice officials and police to decide to go after the bar's owners and employees.

The bartender and his boss at Skip Sports Bar in Calmar - 50 km southwest of Edmonton - have also been charged with criminal negligence causing death in the case of Tammy Kobylka.

Kobylka, 22, died last October of what the coroner termed "acute ethanol toxicity."

It seems to me that 22 years old is mighty young to be drinking your self to death. Probably Tammy Kobylka deserves our sympathy. Or at least she would if she were still alive but then if she were we would not be having this opportunity to ponder the question of just who Tammy was and who these people are who according to the CP report ..........

Kobylka was pronounced dead at her home in Calmar on Oct. 7, 2007.

Tests showed her blood-alcohol level was five times over the legal limit for driving.

Lynn Kobylka, Tammy's mother, could not be reached Friday, but said at the time of her daughter's death that the young woman and two men were in Skip's from 12:30 a.m. until it closed at 2 a.m.

They then returned to Tammy's home. Kobylka said she has been told the two men left after her daughter began to fall asleep on a couch.

Later, another man in the home woke up, noticed Tammy wasn't breathing and called 911.

And what role they all played in her seemingly self induced demise.

The point being that if you are going to blame the bartender the waitress and the people who own the bar you might as well get everyone in on the guilt wagon roundup.

Why stop there? When you have two or possibly three male companions (or more?) such caring parents and friends who now grieve for the decseased and how many others?

Should the state not be held accountable as well? Why not charge the Alberta Liquor commission for licensing and supplying booze to the bar? Why not round up the entire Koblylka clan and the entire circle of friends?

Why not charge the Province of Alberta with complicity in the death?

Why stop where they did?

Well ... come to think of it consistency and logic are not common aspects of the LIberal mindset.

Seems that Alberta's justice department is full of it.

RIP Tammy Kobylka. Condolences to family and friends.

OMMAG many die from glue and aerosol sniffing. Should the stores, manufacturers and, what the hell, educators be charged as well. Lunacy.

People die and suffer every minute of every day due to the consequences of their decisions.
Even you and I.
Consequences .... they have causes.
