Friday's Beer !
Say Hello to Leute Bokbier .......................... from our old friends at Brourij Van Steenberge:
Leute Bokbier is a dark red heavy high fermentation beer that undergoes secondary fermentation in the bottle or in the keg. It has a very aromatic taste, not too distinctly sweet, yet full and mild in the mouth.
So they say......
I poured this one at basement temperature and she produced a healthy caramel coloured head.
The body in the glass was very deep amber and had lots of sparkle.
When I lofted to the nose the first imperssion was bakeshop maltiness and then some of that floral hop aroma you get from many Belgians.
On the tongue the drink was a bit grainy and the flavour very nicely balanced between the hops and malt sugars. Not sweet but rather ... pleasantly on the edge of bitter and then clean to a moist and mouthwatering finish.
An all around good drink for cooler days. I might try the next one chilled.
I'd like to get my hands on one of the Magnums!

Off Topic for you AC/DC fans in Winnipeg: shut your mouth if you shake Brian Johnson's hand at the concert Saturday. At 1:41 in the following youtube he sweats directly into Nimos's mouth (Nimos is a some-time commenter on Lumberjack) at 1:46 she wipes it off.
