Friday's Beer !

Meet Fort Gibraltar .... a Beer from Winnipeg's Fort Garry Brewing.

I'm not sure what the whole deal with this one is...

But it seems to be a promotion for the Festival du Voyageur. Also, you can apparently win a trip for two to Churchill MB.

Whatever.....

The beer itself pours a nice clear golden glassful with a short lived head of white foam.

The nose is a good bablance of citrus and banana hops with a touch of malts underneath. Not bad.

The first taste gives a fairly clean and malty reward with a smooth feel and a lingering finish.

But that's the end of the good stuff .... once the hops have gone there remains a metalic tinge and the tell tale burps of forced carbonation in the drink. The last straw is the sure proof of preservatives having been added ..... my sinus goes dry and so does my back of the throat.
With that goes my desire to have another taste.

In spite of the fact that they advertise this beer as "naturally aged without preservatives" I can tell you that for certain there are perservatives in this can.

This beer is best left on the shelf.

That beer is the Northwest Company getting even with the HBC'ers.

That can be the only reason that a beer named after a place with such a storied history can taste so awfull...
