The U.S. ambassador to Belgium, Howard Gutman, recently told a conference hosted by the European Jewish Union that Israel is to blame for growing anti-Semitism harbored by people of Muslim faith.
“A distinction should be made between traditional anti-Semitism, which should be condemned and Muslim hatred for Jews, which stems from the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Palestinians,” Gutman reportedly said, according to the Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth. “He also argued that an Israeli-Palestinian peace treaty will significantly diminish Muslim anti-Semitism.”
I'm sure Obama has kind words for him though...

what you are displaying here is racism. to think that because he is a jew, he must tow some party line on the israeli-palestinian conflict.

many jewish israelis WANT a peace treaty of some sort with the arabs, just like many want the arabs driven into the sand. that is why Rabin was elected, and why he was assassinated.
israel is not a monolith of thought, and neither are jews.

This is a blatant effort on his part to divert the blame for violence from the perpetrators to the targets of the malevolent ideology.
What Howard Gutman is doing is called moral equivalence ... as in equating the cultural anti-semitism of Arabs with some sort of intellectual position against the state of Israel.
The current level of savagery being displayed in the middle east and around the world is a manifestation of cultural hatred and a direct result of the so called "traditional anti-Semitism".
His statement ignores historical fact and tramples on the dignity of his own heritage.
And that my friend IS bulshit!
What he actually means by "traditional anti-Semitism" is another question. As if some post modern form exists? Perhaps he means the traditional European form? The 20th century totalitarian form? What is that exactly? To the best of my knowledge ... Muslim Jew Hatred goes back 700 years or so and is an integral part of the societal fabric of all Arabs.
A "tradition" that precedes Gutman's secular humanist ideology by a significant measure.
muslim-jew hatred goes back 700 yrs. yes it does, so does hatred among ALL the tribal groups of the arab lands. the jews are just another 'them'. unfotunately for them, they are also outnumbered. thats the way it goes.
and its also racism to tell a farmer who's family has worked the same patch of ground for generations that he has to leave because only a jew has a right to own that land.
wanna know the other side?: talk to a palestinian.
