CNN ... Doing What They Do !

With a weekend spent at home doing yard work and a few maintenance projects there wasn't a lot of time for lounging in front of the tube. Although Sunday was set aside so I could watch the Indianapolis 500 and with the Monaco F1 race in the morning so much the better.
Saturday consisted of about 12 hours of work where in between stints of weeding, window maintenance and major effort to clean out the garage there were of course a few breaks for a coffee or a beer.
Great Live Video ...
During a coffee break I stopped to watch the news for a bit and saw an awesome live video of a tornado ripping through north central Oklahoma.
Tornado Video This bit was the start of about 1/2 hour of live action as a helicopter pilot followed the storm through several counties of Oklahoma on Saturday afternoon!

Sunday for me was pretty much the races and a few breaks to go do some work. But I did catch this bit ...

Great Programming ..... Not So Great on the Science....

While skipping around the channels later in the day there was an excellent report on the Mars Phoenix mission where NASA's latest is sent to the Martian Pole to look for water among other things. They had a lot of background and great graphics as they followed the last hour or so of the probe descent. Really impressive ... until the CNN science and tech host Miles Obrien chimed in with his observation that the Phoenix would be landing on the Martian "Tundra" .......

Leaving me wondering why NASA had to go to all that effort to send probes to Mars in search of water and signs of life when all they had to do was consult Miles O'Brien at CNN ?

Apparently " just like our own Polar Regions" ( according to Miles ) Mars has Tundra!

Mars Reports ...

Back to Work....
