Our Happy Liberal Paradise - WPG South Center

The legion of unquestioning have once again exerted their collective lack of will in yet another federal election....

That'd be those folks in Winnipeg South Center numbering 16,438 who in their deep wisdom chose to extend the political career of Anita Inevitable for yet an another term.

(Take note CBC they have defined your demographic)

Choices eh?

Anita the Inevitable as she must now be seen ...... who as far as I can tell has never held a productive job in this world or been more than a Liberal talking point parrot squacking from the back benches of the red zone.

Oh well! At least Trevor Kennerd managed to earn his 14,108 votes. A fact we celebrated until they closed the bar last night. And to boot proved himself the far better man by going to her headquarters and congratulating her on the win! That's after the BS smear she and her cronies tried to pull during the campaign. Trevor is a big man!

Many thanks to those folks with the sense to see the opportunity to toss out the old laundry.

Congratulations to Steve Fletcher, Rod Bruinooge and the others who held their office and others like Vic Toews and Jim Bezan who proved that they do speak for their constituents and loudly.

Special congratulations to Shelly Glover for unseating another perennial Liberal in St. Boniface.
Also, to Candice Hoepner whose supporters crush the enemy with 68% of the vote.

Best one liner from the party ...

"It's good to know that people are more than ever realizing that the Conservatives are the ones that are working with and for the people of Canada.... as opposed to the Liberals whose ambition is plainly to just WORK Canadians."

So here's to the success and the near misses.... the failures too for next time we will be still better prepared.

Unless there is an election within the next 12 months I think this was Neville's last go and that is bad news for any of us Tories that were hoping to pick the seat up cause this being the Liberal stronghold in Western Canada, they will find a high profile star to replace the lowkey Neville.

A Gail Asper, or Glen Murray or someone else with big name recognition will replace her and make it harder to have any hope to pick it up cause if we still lost by 2500 votes to an invisible back bencher like Neville, while her party was being routed in the province, with a horrible Liberal leader than it is pretty safe for someone with some credentials.

Maybe if the NDP think they can pick it up and run a REAL candidate and not some hippy UofM student and they steal Liberal votes, we could have a chance. But I don't think Kennerd is the guy to do it. Need someone that can eat into the Liberal River Heights margins, I was at a poll in the heart of River Heights last night and Neville just creamed us by 100 votes or more in ever poll. Even though she loses all the Fort Gary and Tuxedo polls to us, the Liberals do well enough in River Heights to make up for that.

Whatever. I've lived in area since the late 70's and I've always had a Liberal MP (even in 84!) and I don't expect it to ever change.

We at least won St. B! Although it will be a one term pick up like when we got in 84 cause the Libs will find some one with more of a pulse than Simard to take it back next time.

Vandel?

I shudder...

Can't completely agree there, SCR. I think that Trevor laid the groundwork for a next-time victory although, to be fair, maybe you're onto something about River Heights. I believe that next time, if Trevor runs (I tried to convince him of that last night at the party) he can take the riding.

As for Shelly, she won by a LOT. I don't think she'll be going away anytime soon--especially not with the team she has on the ground there.

I worked on the 84 campaign in St.B...which we won by more than Glover did...

and in 88 Duhamel came in and bet us by 10,000 votes +

Liberals are weeds, just when you think you have them down, they are back again all over and in power for 13 years straight...

Keep the faith people.

Yes they are like weeds but sooner or later even hippy's and old women get tired of them in their yards.

The Liberals are Canada's natural governing party and I have no doubt that in 4 or so years, after a retooling, a new leader, and a better fundraising apparatus that the Liberal Party will easily get a majority government once again.

If Harper couldn't get a majority fighting super lame Dion and a broke Liberal party, than he never will.

A Kennedy, or McGuinty or McKenna as leader will send the Tories back to the opposition benches where they have been 75% of time during Canada's history.

P.S

Kennerd was classy to come concede to Anita. I don't think Heinriches ever bothered.

I think I'm gonna puke.

I gotta agree with SCR and ale. If the Conservatives can't put down hissy fit Dion and as a leader and the walking defibrilator employer in WpgSthCtr, how will they do against someone with brains at the helm?

Voter apathy says it all, Socons that hate Harper, and any self-respecting liberal didn't vote.
