Doer Knight-Errant
Not because he's got a track record of accomplishment. His governance has been a disaster ignored and unreported in the mainstream.
Not because of his innate abilities. He's nothing but a opportunist who's had a good run.
Why is Gary Doer going to Washington to sit in the PLUM patronage position that the Feds have to offer?
Simple.... it's a buy off.
Stephen Harper has bought off a political opponent in his nascent stages. For one thing that Gary Doer is capable of ..... taking over the leadership of a federal party and getting votes.
Whether that federal party would be the running joke that is the NDP or the train wreck of the LPC. Doer in spite of his limitations is more competent by an order of magnitude than anyone who currently resides within those camps.
Picturing Grinning Gary as the Knight-Errant of the political left .... the chevalier ... moved off the board to the realms of internation courtiers.
While the rest of Canada's political hacks are busy playing red-rover..... Harper plays chess.

and it's great sport to see the dour Doer all giddy jogging to the trough...kinda like a four year old under the Christmas tree.

To tell the truth aside from an incident at a local bar (details recorded for posterity) I can only recall him wearing that stupid grin.
I'm going to be keeping en eye on how things develop.........
I figured dour sorta kinda rhymed with Doer...but this bar incident has peaked my nosey interest...dish?
