Replacing Debate With Political Playground Squabling

Angelo Perischilli of the Ottawa Sun writes a decent column on the devolution on Canadian politics.

excerpt:

" Repatriation of the Constitution, free trade, the GST: Do you remember them? We supported them, we fought them, and we debated them.

They are the last big debates Canada engaged in. Since then, political debate has been degraded by revenge, nastiness and, most of all, mediocrity.

We no longer enjoy politics from Canada's capital. There are no intelligent debates on real issues and no respect for institutions. We don't have leaders talking about the future of this country.

We have individuals fighting each other and chasing political power like dogs chasing a car. But, as the American guru of communication, James Carville, once said, did anyone ask the dogs what to do with the car in the event they reach it?

In the last few years, parliamentarians have started many debates yet finished none of them. They fly over important issues like bees over flowers looking for pollen, and then leap just as quickly onto another. "

Well isn't this what conservative bloggers have been saying all along?

And .... Why should Stephen Harper be taken to task for it when the culprits who are at the root of this degradation of common sense, civility and good governance are intent on dragging Him and the rest of us into the septic pond they have created?

Harper IS trying to govern based on sound principles and policy and who is it that is resisting?

This is why conservatives have NO respect for the Left and less for the MSM stooges who carry their water!

If nothing else politics 101 teaches us two things:
1. Icompetence + duplicity = electibility + incompetence.
2. Politician + money = corruption.
I may be beyond middle age and a long time Conservative supporter, but it's never too late to change.
Up the Rhinocerous Party!
(At least until they become mainstream and as bad as the rest of them)

Haha .... good answer! To the question that wasn't really asked.

Personally .... I trust Harper even though he's showing signs of wavering on some issues I find crystal clear.

Here's hoping that us long time conservatives don;t have to give him the Mulroney!
