I Agree

Carl Sagan
“One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we’ve been bamboozled long enough, we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We’re no longer interested in finding out the truth. The bamboozle has captured us. It’s simply too painful to acknowledge, even to ourselves, that we’ve been taken. Once you give a charlatan power over you, you almost never get it back.”
Carl Sagan, The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark

This Is Exactly What I Have Been Saying

iNoPasaran! provides some linkage to articles on the passing of Abdrew Breitbart...

"Andrew didn't fall for the notion that, somehow, it's impolite to call the Left on their bullshit; And neither should you "

None of those clowns posing as your moral and intellectual betters have any legitimate claim to the role.
Not the politicians... not the fools in the media... not the self important academics.. and most certainly of all ... not the snot nosed harpies of the socialist movement.

They are all very well deserving of being called out on their bullshit .... mostly because it never stops.

This Is Why Politicians Are Hell Bent on Keeping the SCAM Going...

A sound reason for business ... Big Oil  ... Big Energy  ... EXXON /Gulf/Petro-Can/Shell /GE .... to back the global warming scam (they do know it is a SCAM) is because they can profit from it. The stupid ... and the ignorant have bought into the BS about this whole business being a matter of "science" and continue to do so.
Of course for the international proponents of wealth distribution this still remains the opportunity of the century... the UN and it's minion agencies have never been this close to achieving an international consensus for their dreams of entrenching wealth redistribution from successful to the failures and parasites of this world.

For sure ... the main proponents from the research industry have a vested interest in keeping the fraud going since they live off the research money that comes from the corporate world and from the business of "Big Enviromental Activism".
Unfortunately ... their trough is also being  filled with taxpayer dollars.

Tax dollars are being thrown away in the hundreds of billions provided to mainstream energy industry  players through an endless stream of subsidies to provide risk free incentive for these major business entities. Thanks to our government's largess ... these big energy players get to dominate every possible avenue of alternative energy development. To be sure ... every last one of these "alternate energy" sources is completely non-viable without being propped up by subsidy.

Bio-fuel of every description ... takes more conventional fuel to produce than it is worth and that is not even considering the financial costs to produce the bio-fuels or the cost of lost use of resources when the normal production of food or fiber or oils and the land needed for this production are diverted to the unproductive energy sector. Yet ... the big players still get a guaranteed profit. Thanks to taxpayers.

Wind energy ... which has limited opportunity for economic viability ... is being subsidized around the industrialized world for no other reason than the same players are benefitting from those subsidies.

Solar energy ... as in solar to electrical power ... requires more dollar value in subsidy to even implement (as in install the equipment) than it is able to produce in energy over the entire servicable lifespan of the equipment.

On the political front ... Big Green ... is a win / win proposition. They get political support from the organizations that receive the corporate donations ... and they get political support from the dumbasses that believe the BS of the activists.

The only possible downside for politicos is the relatively limited backlash from an informed public with the sense to see that they are being gamed and want something done about it.

From a blog posting at Autonomous Mind the political and industrial influencing effect is examined.:

Excerpt...

There are plenty more examples of these kind of inconvenient facts, where the supposed enemy is a friend and supposed ally is an opponent.  The bottom line is these companies will support whatever helps their bottom line.  They are super powerful and influential corporates, and with the subsidies on offer utterly committed to keeping the climate change gravy train on the tracks.  And we, the taxpaying consumers, foot the bill to increase the wealth of these corporations.

I'm not a conspiracy oriented person ... I think that the corporations will and must do what they can do to prosper... but I do think that the lack of accountability and lack of honesty being displayed by the political classes, the Mainstream Media and by the accademic community is something that needs to be addressed and fought hard to rectify.

Businesses do have a right to prosper ... not at the expense of the taxpayer.

There is no point in arguing facts with the suckers in the green camp .... the only thing you can do is remind politicians that there is a person or more out here who knows the game that is being played.

Bishop Hill Blog

Just the  other  day I was thinking about this errudite British Blogger ..... The Bishop Hill Blog !

As it happens .... SDA was tipped to a recent winner of a post at BHB..............

Pseudo Sciences, conspiracy theories and frauds abound in this world because they satisfy the emotional needs of people. I will leave it to you to decide what these needs might be the very reason they must be satisfied in such a manner.

FWIW ... One of my pet peaves is Scientology  which manages to be both pseudo-science and pseudo-religion at once!  Or perhaps Creationism ... which is much the same. Oh .... surely Socialism qualifies on many levels.

Excerpt ....

My topic today is scientific heresy. When are scientific heretics right and when are they mad? How do you tell the difference between science and pseudoscience?
Let us run through some issues, starting with the easy ones.
Astronomy is a science; astrology is a pseudoscience.
Evolution is science; creationism is pseudoscience.
Molecular biology is science; homeopathy is pseudoscience.
Vaccination is science; the MMR scare is pseudoscience.
Oxygen is science; phlogiston was pseudoscience.
Chemistry is science; alchemy was pseudoscience.
Are you with me so far?

A Pound of Flesh ...

Or ...... a lesson in justice.

In Elizabethan England there was a widespread animosity toward the Jew that was fairly well outlined in the subtext of Shakespeare's play the Merchant of Venice. While the Bard was bound to conform to popular prejudices of the day, his antagonist character Shylock the Jew was allowed to make his case for both the humanity of his situation and his right as a benefactor to be compensated before being screwed over in a court of  his detractors.

Richard Fernandez aka "Wretchard" of the Belmont Club puts us in touch with the modern day dilemma of  being uncompensated benefactors. In brief ...
- We are all being denied justice because of revisionist thinking in the form of political correctness
- The natural consequence of the denial of civil justice is the do it yourself sort
- This is being displayed in Israel and provides an object lesson to anyone who cares to pay attention

The Failure of Al Gore

Not a matter of intellectual interest for me .... Al Gore's continued plunge into irrelevance and worse cannot happen fast enough nor can it be humiliating enough to suit my sense of justice.
There is no question in my mind about the reasons for his decline and those reasons lie squarely in the fact that his entire public persona has been built upon one false construct after another.
Albert Gore the fortunate son ... who never really had to worry about much in the way of where he was going or how he would get there ... just had to play the roles handed to him by family, school and peers. Never a problem ... because he always looked the part and had all the right credentials. Not that I care much about that sort of thing because what he is is his own business ... up to the point where he starts screwing around with things that affect other people and especially where he gets into public office and how he behaves in the aftermath of that.

To cut to the chase ... back in the days when he was chosen by Slick Willy to run as Veep for the Democrat campaign was the first inkling of how phony this guy is. That unnatural stiffness is not the result of personal reserve but rather of a basic discomfort at being exposed in situations where he is not in control of events. Somewhere along the line he got into a social crusade with his wife ... an effort to dictate what music publishers would be allowed to sell. Although, in this matter I have a certain sympathy for anyone who is offended by deliberately offensive crap being marketed as art.
But again with Albert Gore ...there is no room for give and take .... no ability or even desire to engage in the natural ebb and flow of human interchange.

The point where this became a sure fact in my mind was when he did the rounds of the major late night talk shows .... performing in contrived and transparently scripted efforts to portray having a sense of humor. Which it seems is basically being willing to make fun of his wife and their relationship. (Something I doubt you'll be seeing EVER again! btw) .... Sometime later after a lackluster performance as Bubba's veep ... he was handed the next undeserved reward ... the Presidential nomination to run against GWB. .... whereupon he proceeded to blow a shoe in win of the US Presidency by assuming that being a shoe in meant that he didn't have to DO anything in the campaign.  Proving Gore to be a fuck up of the first order. But ... not satisfied with having screwed the pooch in his big chance at importance ... Albert decides to change his mind about bowing out graciously and pursues a hopelessly contrived effort to discredit the election results. Not surprisingly ... he was happy to jump to the front of the parade of  moonbat Bush haters and lead the freaks in slandering the GoP and anyone who supported them. (Another nail in the Gore reputation coffin)

Jump forward to the next phase of the manufactured career of Albert Gore.... the Great Global Warming Scam ... wherein The Goracle is born.
Taking on the mantle of his natural sense of entitlement and self righteous destiny of greatness and wearing them as if they are proof of his own place as saviour of the world .... a place where it turned out that he had hedged his bets by investing heavily into the artificial opportunity of Carbon Trading.

Too bad for Al that although he had lots of willing supporters in this fraud ... he needed to actually seal the deal on the climate crusade. They give the guy a Nobel prize! They give him a freekin Oscar!

True to form ....Once again Albert Gore meets massive failure.  Not content to act out the role of environmental evangelist Fat Al begins using the hundreds of millions of dollars windfall to to him in the global warming scam to start building and buying a freakishly lavish lifestyle with mansions in various locations ... jetting around unceasingly and generally exposing himself as the self important blowhard he really is.

There is no surprise to Albert Gore's downfall .... It is because of Hubris .... and it is well deserved.

See another take on the demise of the Goracle ...

I Agreee !

Says Bob Parks .... "I Don't Owe Unions A Goddamned Thing!"

Lemme get this out: while I more than appreciate the work performed by teachers, police, and firefighters, I don’t appreciate them throwing the fact they do that job in my face.

We don’t live in a communist country where jobs are assigned according to intellect or bulk. Police officers and firefighters weren’t drafted. If you chose to be one, I applaud you but that being said, that doesn’t mean you get to tell us how much you get paid because you chose a job that potentially puts your life in peril. If it’s not worth the risk, I wouldn’t blame you at all if you walked, but this job safety-guilt trip shit is starting to fall on deaf ears.

Amen Bob .... Amen!

And how about teachers ... whose main complaint is being held responsible for the outcome of their work? Or possibly the fact that they don't actually LIKE having to deal with people's bad mannered and belligerent kids?

And don't we have the same sort of BS from civil servants ... clerks... administrators ... affirmative action hires who would be stocking shelves at convenience stores at best if not for the largess of the taxpayer.

As I've been saying for decades ... If you can't hack the job then quit and do something else ... if you're so precious what's the problem?

At the bottom of this list ... and maybe should be at the top ... are the union organizers and leadership who in my opinion are the greatest beneficiaries of the whole tax sucking scam while providing no benefit to the tax payer.

The Law of Unintended Consequences

Always works against efforts to regulate through government intervention.

Pro-regulatory activists often proclaim that the solution is to appoint non involved and ignorant ... possibly antagonistic types to regulator panels or commissions.

But the smart ones know that co opting insiders is the way to go...... As explained by Richard Fernandez Some Excerpts ....

Therefore all attempts at “financial reform”, “healthcare reform” and “Green Energy” must be scrutinized very carefully because regulatory expansion is a two-edged sword. It may lead, not to the protection of the “little guy” by the government, but to his proxy enslavement to special interests through the mechanism of the state. This risk has been known for a long time.

In 1913 Woodrow Wilson wrote: “If the government is to tell big business men how to run their business, then don’t you see that big business men have to get closer to the government even than they are now? Don’t you see that they must capture the government, in order not to be restrained too much by it? Must capture the government? They have already captured it.”

And so it goes that as the perpetually wrong liberal left and self styled progressives continue to repeat the childish demands for undefined "change" and ignorant criticisms of the social structures that gave them the very opportunity to indulge their fantasies of self actualization .... the actual results achieved are the exact opposite of what they so fervently believed.

Now after more than 100 years of failed socialist experiments you'd think they would begin to understand this cause and effect relationship between asking for more government and losing any chance at all of being able to exercise self determination.

In this context there seems to be only two possible explanations for this behaviour... the first being that it is willful self destructive behaviour ... the second that it is deliberate malevolence.

Batshit crazy or just plain evil.

Know your enemy.

EPA Publishes Fraudulent Reports

And Reuters is happy to repeat them..... In an article taken from the UK online edition of their reports the "news" disseminator uses their bully pulpit in a fine example of focussed messaging that begins with a false premise and finishes with the hyperbole of a fanatic preacher ranting to the captive choir. Note that by all indications the UK media continues to be completely committed to continuing their efforts to promote the idea that there is a fact based, scientific reality that includes all of the worst case scenarios imagined by the credulous populace and encouraged by radical activist organizations.

Typical of the daily efforts of these self appointed moral and intellectual betters in the mainstream media and revealing of the depth of corruption in what are supposed to public serving agencies, the falsity of this particular piece of propaganda was observed first by John Ray of Greenie Watch :

“Since the mid-1970s, Alaska has warmed at three times the rate of the Lower 48 states, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. And with nearly two-thirds of U.S. national parkland located in Alaska, the issue of climate change is especially pressing there, officials say.

In some far northern parks such as Gates of the Arctic, average temperatures are expected to shift in coming years from below freezing to above freezing, crossing a crucial threshold, said Bob Winfree, Alaska science adviser for the Park Service.

“The effects of melting ice and thawing permafrost, I think, will be major,” Winfree said.

Dr.Ray goes on to point out the nature of the factual misrepresentation behind the public statements from the EPA and the Alaska Parks Service which, in a nutshell is that the claimed warming all happened prior to 1977.

The trail that led to this little example of fraudulent reporting led from another respectable science blogging site "Real Science" by Steven Goddard.... who also sees this in terms of how the sources are responsible for the propagation of these falsities. They are ... but it goes beyond that.

For my part ... the efforts of these clowns in the MSM to perpetuate misinformation, their reliance on false reports, falsified information, false attribution and revisionist claims of historical data need to be seen and understood for what it is ... that being the venal efforts of people who are committed to and dependent for their livelihood on creating contention and exploiting the insecurities of their captive audience.

In the frame of reference common to the media insiders it's all about the effect that their stories create and the ability to exploit that effect. A point of view which also seems to lead to a kind of smug self importance and superiority in how they view themselves.

In my view .... nothing but a bunch of sleazy misanthropes running a long legged game on the credulous public.

On Revisionist Thinking ... The Malthusian Assumption

While catching up on the environment science blog Greenie Watch I found this article on the proponents of "limited resources' theory and the natural extension of this "enforced population control"....

An article by Brendan O'Neill (excerpt below)

Of course, the Malthusians have learned from their past. They have learned from their earlier dalliances with eugenics in the 1930s and forced sterilisation in India in the 1970s, and from their complicity in the development of China’s one-child policy in the 1980s; they know that population authoritarianism is not popular. Women don’t like being told what to do with their wombs, and men don’t like being forced into vasectomies. So modern-day Malthusians have adopted the language of ‘reproductive choice’ and ‘female empowerment’ instead. But this is deeply, deeply disingenuous.

Because when you promote family planning on the basis that too many children will destroy the planet, on the basis that women are creating future pollutants, on the basis that our offspring will turn into planet-rapists, then you are not giving women real reproductive choice, which is something I fully support; no, you are giving them an ultimatum. You are instructing them that if they carry on breeding, then they will be responsible for natural disasters and carnage on a Biblical scale. That is coercion; it is an invasion of women’s free will. And it is the end result of a misanthropic outlook which says that the worst thing a human being can do is create another human being.

Brendan O’Neill is editor of spiked. Read his personal website here.

Yep they are wrong about everything because the core assumptions made to support their ethos are false.

By extension and for the same reasons the fellow travellers ... those who have adopted the Malthusian doctrines to their political and moral views .... socialists, feminists, environmentalists and other such "ists" .... your modern liberals and your progressive sorts .... always wrong about everything.

Independence From Propaganda

From Watts Up With That? ...

A nice little note about freedom to think for yourself!

By Steve Goddard

July 4, 2010. Celebrating independence from traditional sources of polar ice news.

Last week we discussed the importance of wind in determining the summer minimum. In 2007, the winds blew consistently from the south and compacted the ice towards the North Pole. This led to a tremendous amount of news coverage claiming that the Arctic was heating and melting. In fact – the spring and summer of 2007 was slightly cooler than normal for about half of the melt period north of 80°N........

From Greenie Watch .....

NICE! ....

If a climate scientist falls in the forest, does anybody hear? Not if the old media have anything to do with it. Thankfully, in 2010, their hold on the news has started to weaken. But it’s not like they didn’t try. For more than five months, from Nov. 20, 2009, to April 1, 2010, the broadcast networks did all they could to hide a crisis in the climate alarmist movement.

That first event, now called Climate Gate, has grown into a series of global warming scandals that have shaken faith in both the science we are fed on a regular basis and the scientists who do the feeding.

This week in Chicago, the Heartland Institute is bringing together the Fourth International Conference on Climate Change, a meeting of hundreds of scientists and policy experts who dare to challenge so-called conventional wisdom on global warming.

Instead of having a meeting, they should be having a celebration.

Not that they’ve won. They haven’t. But for the first time in many years, there is a public understanding that our daily diet of climate propaganda might be somewhat or even entirely bogus. That’s due in a large part to the embarrassments that came out of the initial Climate Gate report where e-mails from University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) were leaked to the world.

Those e-mails, and a separate document showing the shoddy data gathering done by those involved, included thousands of messages showing the potential manipulation of temperature data, a willingness to destroy information rather than release it under British Freedom of Information (FOI) law and the intimidation of publications willing to publish skeptical articles.

The most famous of the e-mails included this line for CRU Director Phil Jones to Penn State scientist Michael Mann. Climate geeks know Mann for his hockey stick graph of global warming, which has been key to climate alarmists and even cropped up in Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth.”

Jones wrote Mann, saying: “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”

An e-mail from Kevin Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and lead author of three IPCC climate change reports, said this memorable comment: “The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.” Oops.

While Jones had to temporarily step down, the left continues to try and white wash the whole episode.

Go read the whole thing .... A Well written summary of the ongoing fraud of climate activism posing as scientific research
