The current and ongoing riots in Sweden and the refusal of police and politicians to act has begun a  movement of citizens who realize that they must defend themselves and their cities. Unfortunately ... and quite predictably ... they must also face the hostility and force of the very authorities who are supposed to protecting them.

We have clear examples in our own country and our own communities that politicians, bureaucrats and public servants will readily and criminally attack decent citizens rather than be forced to do what they are actually paid to do. In fact it seems to be the preferred choice when faced with making the decision of whether to enforce the law or silence criticism. All this occurs again and again with the nodding approval of social elites and the obscene cheerleading of the media.

The assault on  lawful citizens is simply more prolonged and blatant in Sweden today.

Jack Layton Raving ....

Yeah I know it's redundant ... but he's been going on about gasoline prices and how he'll stick it to the big bad oil companies.

Try some facts Jack ...

Independent observers who follow Canadian retail gasoline prices say, on average, in 2010 crude costs accounted for roughly 47% of what Canadians paid for a litre of gasoline. On the same litre, taxes made up 33%, refinery operating margin accounted for 13% and roughly 7% was left as operating margin for retailers to cover their operating costs and return a profit. (Source: MJ Ervin & Associates/Kent Marketing Group).

Of note, in 2010 Canadian gasoline prices, including taxes, were second lowest among G8 countries. Due to lower tax levels, the United States had the lowest tax-in gasoline prices among the G8 nations.

Of course facts don't get into the brains of Layton and his supporters ..... so I would not expect anything different. But, just because he is going into his usual bullshit act of feigned outrage I think it deserves pointing out.

The only beef I have with the price of gas is the AMOUNT of tax I'm forced to pay.

Said tax is supposed to be used for ROAD maintenance and improvements and less that 0.01 percent of this money the government steals from us is used for that purpose.

Now ... I do not suppose that the likes of Laytoon would ever consider reducing these taxes to give us consumers a break. Nope ... not a chance because what the commies have always stated on the matter is that they would increase those taxes and include new levies as well.

While spouting off about how evil the oil companies are for charging enough to make a few pennies of a liter of the stuff .... with every word they utter on the matter they are full of shit. In addition to this hypocrisy ... they propose that they can force the oil companies to lower prices at the pump ... in effect saying that they will force the oil companies to operate at a loss.

Two problems .... ONE they cannot do this unless they are in the kind of position Hugo Chavez is in where they can rewrite laws to suit their ideological assumptions. TWO ... the price of oil Before it gets to the refinery is determined by the international markets.

Now suppose that the commies in the NDP actually could do what they say and succeeded!

For a small sample of the consequences .... take a look at Venezuela... and if you look there you will see that there are damned few people left with enough an income that allows them to BUY gas for their cars.

It may be true that you and I get screwed every weekend when the retail gas outlets jack their prices .... but that is NOT the same thing as the oil companies making a killing at our expense on the basic price of fuel.

The measure of support for the likes of people who make these proclamations LIKE Lack Layton does is essentially a measure of the gullibility of people who listen to them.

Lemme get this out: while I more than appreciate the work performed by teachers, police, and firefighters, I don’t appreciate them throwing the fact they do that job in my face.

If you chose to be one, I applaud you but that being said, that doesn’t mean you get to tell us how much you get paid because you chose a job that potentially puts your life in peril. Social Security: Europe is trying to dig out of its budget hole by seizing private pensions. It's a last-ditch effort to preserve socialism at the expense of the very assets that would sustain its future growth.

In Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, Ireland and France, big government, a demographic death spiral and weak tax revenues have left fiscal coffers in trouble. Unwilling to stand up to voters — or rioters — most governments have little taste for doing the right thing: cutting their budgets.

So, they're going after pensions to make up for shortfalls. Public and private pensions co-exist in European countries. In some cases, public ones resemble our own Social Security, stressing budgets.

But instead of privatizing pensions, as Chile did in 1980 — which would have turned these obligations into assets — three former stars of European emerging markets have come up with heavy-handed incentives to turn private savings public. It's a step backward.

In November, Hungary's parliament ordered its nationals to fork over $14 billion in private pensions to the state, effectively nullifying the country's 1997 pension reform. Anyone who balks loses his right to a public pension, but not his obligation to pay into it anyway.

It seems that the use of the term "Private" is somewhat loose in the meaning of the word. In this case "private" seems to be interpreted as anything, even tax sunsidized public employee plan..... most of this theft is from Union Pension funds so a little schadenfreude enters the picture as the useful tools of the labour sort are getting their colonoscopy/colonic flush/ass-syphoning first.

But of course this does not stop there..... next steps will include individual types of plans (something the US is already going after in Health Care) and will have no qualms about in the coming social security crash.

The whole situation strikes me as too close to home even in these early stages and I wonder how those Big Government ... aka Liberal loving .... groups here in Canada are going to see this.

Just imagine the turn around we'd see from groups like the Ontario Teacher's Pension fund if the likes of McGuinty tried this!

Mr. Genachowski's draft document has over 550 footnotes and is stamped "non-public, for internal use only" to ensure nobody outside the agency sees it until the rules are approved in a scheduled Dec. 21 vote. So much for "openness."

My view of the internet in general has been that it works like a public forum where anyone can grab a soapbox and let loose .... in the same veign .... anyone and everyone is free to ignore what they do not like.

By integrating commonly available information tools and roadside imaging systems it is already possible for anyone with a few bucks and the will to do so ... to know exactly where you are in a vehicle at all times.

In Europe there is already a propaganda campaign to sell the implementation of these systems.

Just Another Day in Our Happy Socialist Paradise

Well it's a day after the civic elections in Winnipeg and not much has changed....

I suppose the good news is that not much has changed .... as in "No news is good news!"

The good citizens showed their true colors by going out in droves at the behest of unions and leftist political hacks. But on the other hand, fear of getting tax increases won out over the desire to inflict/endure still greater levels of asshattery from the City Hall.


But what the heck? In spite of the usual intense campaigning from the crypto commies who backed up the insufferable waste of skin Judy Washyerwhashyerwash... and the belly aching from the community of parasites and taxburdenites... in spite of not having a single thing to be recommended for ... and in spite of a do nothing campaign that was perfectly reflective of his governance .... Sam Katz is back in.

The only problem is that we still do not have any prospect of better for the future.... a great voter turnout .... numbers like 48% being bandied about ... which is a big improvement over past civic votes.... seems to be wasted due to lack of candidates of any substance..

Bottom line here is that Winnipeg simply had to choose from the least of the worst for a job that needs at least a moderately competent candidate.


I think what we need to do is create a City Manager position that is responsible for ALL the actual decisions and save the Mayor job for the barely qualified to be ribbon cutting fools who seem attracted to it.

A City Manager that has to go through a public vetting and be held accountable would make a big difference. A city manager who can be fired for failing to meet objectives and replaced as necessary.

Job description: Setting policy objectives, managing the performance of civic departments in meeting those objectives.

Any one up for that?

Rather busy covering their asses and making damned sure the "Policies" that have nothing to do with exercising that responsibility are well used.

What does this mean? It means in plain English that the child welfare agencies of Britain are effectively abetting the abuse and murder of the very children they are supposed to be protecting.

By making sure that priority number one remains the covering of their own cheesy asses.

The results?

Not one but two children from the same family tortured, one of them to death!

Jack Layton - At The Middle of The Biggest Manure Pile In Canadian History!

He says successive Liberal and Conservative governments have spent $54 billion of money earmarked for employment insurance to pay down the national debt.

In language that reminds us of the insane blatherings of Hugo Chavez or the deceased Fidel Castro the leader of Canada's "You've Got To Be Kidding" (copyright Joel Johannesen of PTBC) party observes that a LOT of money was taken from the EI fund.

We'll yes Jack that's correct.

Then in a leap of logic that only a Dipper could follow comes to the conclusion that this constitutes theft of the public's money!!!

Well no Jack .... the theft occurred under the Liberals in the form of unnecessary and unjustified EI contributions ripped from the payrolls of Canada's employers and working people.

You NEVER said a damned thing about that at the time . Which by the way makes you an accomplice in that theft Jack!

What our Conservative government has done is put an END to the theft that you approved of in your former support of the kleptocratic LIberals.

IN addition to putting an end to the institutional excesses of the EI commission our LEADER has crafted a policy and legislation that will ensure it does not happen again.
As an extra bonus the taxpayers money that was wrested from the clutches of the BUREAUCRATS of the EIC has now been liberated from the Treasury and returned to the PEOPLE that it belongs to in the first place!
