Third World Winnipeg

While we were away to Florida's Gulf Coast, a friend in Winnipeg was bemoaning the unrelenting cold that he was suffering from. Apparently, many areas of the city were experiencing frozen water mains and supply lines from the mains to the houses. Home owners were advised to keep a cold water tap trickling to allow water to move and stave off a completely blocked line.

After returning, we heard from some who were affected. They called the city works to be told that they were 800 on the list.

Now, granted there is no way the city can predict that the weather would remain so cold for so long. However, it is not a new thing and we've had similar problems before. In fact, there are locations that freeze and rupture almost every winter in this city.

The problem is not that the weather is unpredictable. The problem is that the city has consistently refused to perform upgrades and repairs in a planned and proactive manner.

Just one of the problems we share with decaying and corrupt shitholes around the world.

Just Like ALL the Rest

While Sun Media pretends to be a force for truth and fairness in reporting, at least as far as the Sun TV News Network is concerned ... it remains pretty clear that the media company is not one nit better than the rest of the MSM at providing anything but the same old false narrative.

Never mind the actual facts behind the AG's staged media presentation yesterday.

First of all the attention grabing comments were taylored for the headline addicted know nothings of the media ... and secondly ... the  underlying supposition that a AG report should include even information that was NOT asked for and NOT required to be reported until later in the year.

Thes two consideration ... deliberately unconsidered by the AG  and wilfully ... cluelessly ignored by your moral and intellectual betters of the press.

Except for the fact that an even greater outrage has been committed by the Auditor General in the preparation and staging of a report in a manner that is a baldfaced effort to justify expanding the mandate of another civil servant's sinecure.

I am all for the AGs office being thorough and unimpeded by politicians ... but this is in no way a matter of the bureuacrat being either stonewalled or interfered with.

It is nothing but a self serving attempt at self justification for more arbitrary power.

With Any Luck At All

We'll see the end of this gargantuan waste of tax dollars ..... here in Canada too .....

While driving to work today I heard a bit of blurb on the US budget politics being played out and a proposal to cut funding to public broadcasting corp in the US..... as it turns out the liberal intelligentsia are all over it ......

Kate at SDA has a well placed juxtaposition of the convenient ... as in truth of the moment ... manner so typical of the privileged liberal.

On the one hand public broadcasting receives less than 10 % of its funding from the government (in the USA) ... on the other hand talking about cutting any amount of the 10% is tantamount to child abuse and the end of days for a hopey changey world.

Back in the land of people who actually have to work for a living .... so we can pay our taxes ... and end up subsidizing these little islands of sanctimonious liberal viewpoint ... some of us don't give a crap.
By and large we do not watch the public broadcasters because we do not care for the material they offer ... outside of a few decent concert series .... the bulk of the programming is just rehashed garbage from other sources that nobody would even know about if not for the desperate need for low cost material in the not for profit sphere.

So .... how many people really benefit from US public broadcasting?

I'd hazard to guess that it is a lot less than the 38million claimed by the NPR CEO....

But after all that's America ... and THIS is Canada ... where the CBC gets over a billion$ from the taxpayers every year to sustain a clique of liberal elites who produce nothing of value (unless you happen to be a member of the parasitic class yourself) and they insist on telling us all that this shit is actually sunshine.

And if only this were the end of it! The rest of the Canadian broadcast cabal get hundreds of millions as well ... as if CTV and the rest are not businesses that are supposed to be earning their fair share for the benefit of their shareholders but rather just PBS lite.

Unfortunately this sort of self propagating dependence on public funding permeates the entire broadcast print media. And do not get me started on arts production especially film in Canada.

For my money I'd like to see all these parasites probosces permanently removed from the public flesh. Cut then off 100% .... let them go out and earn their livings ... let them prove by doing for themselves that they deserve to survive.

But of course ... as with all liberals ... what has actually been a favor of largess by the public has become for them an entitlement.

It's unprofessional and highly unethical for the CBC to not disclose Attaran's highly-partisan pronouncements and his longstanding personal and professional relationship with Michael Ignatieff, but that's just business as usual at the CBC's parliamentary bureau. It can't be stopped. Every time a spectacularly biased practitioner like Keith Boag or Susan Bonner is shipped out, he or she will be seamlessly replaced by an equally biased reporter like Terry Milewski or Leslie MacKinnon. Up and coming reporters at the CBC surely know the drill by now: treat anti-Conservative "analysis" by various academics and unidentified Liberal-supporting experts as "news", assert to Canadians, on the taxpayers' dime, that these negative views of the Conservatives are widely-held and growing among Canadians, and conclude reports with a warning that the "issue" raised in the report isn't going away.

You see .... if a erstwhile "News" broadcaster simply allows lies to be told by unqualified sources .... then it's REALLY not their fault! ..... Sure Thats It.

BTW - Did you know that it is illegal in Canada to make non monetary contributions to a political party without the donor and the recipient party reporting these as such to Elections Canada? Its called "Donations in kind".

With all the ink and bandwidth dedicated to propagating Liberal Political support done by the likes of CBC/CTV/ Globe&Mail etc. you'd think someone would have complained to Elections Canada by now.
