It's really as simple as this... not everyone bows to self proclaimed authority. There remains in this world people who actually consider the reasons a self proclaimed authority makes declarations and those same people are often capable of spotting the flaws in a story.

There are suckers in this world and there are people who dislike being used ... ie, Not Suckers.

Every con game has a theme and the need to stick to that theme is paramount to the fraudster.
When a group of people are won over by a con they become fanatic about it.
When a fraudster has his army of fanatics in play the fraudster(s) will never allow themselves to be questioned. Instead, the fanatics are relied upon to derail those who are questioning the game.

The fanatics wage the war of words on behalf of the fraudsters and manipulators. One of the weapons they  have in their quiver of crooked arrows is the LABEL. The only purpose of the label is to provide a simple distraction to keep the otherwise uninformed or uninterested from considering the point of view that they fear being considered.

What is a "denier"?  In the matter of the climate science fraud it is synonymous with Not a Sucker.

Earth Hour?

I love how the sort of people who jump on environmental bandwagons  are always so certain they are doing something really important.

Donna LaFramboise ...elaborates on the actual facts behind the "Earth Hour" charade:

How many times have you heard the same sort of  noisy pest at one moment lecturing about the evils of international conglomerates and big corporations and at the next praising the WWF and it's allies for "saving the world"?

Well ... it just goes to show that P.T. Barnum was underestimating the statistic when he admonished that there was "... a sucker born every minute!" These days they are not only being born but manufactured.
As uninformed types continue to buy into every scam that  comes along, the likes of the WWF and their associates continue to rake in the dough. They are very effective at orchestrating stunts like the "Earth Hour" and they are very effective at raking in money from the uninformed ... the misguided and the simply stupid. They are also VERY effective at using that money to support political activists and hacks that make it possible for them to continue the money raking.

Let it be clear ... There is no benefit to the world ....in any way shape or form ...  from these people enriching themselves. The World Wildlife Fund contributes nothing of any substance to the world.
Playing blindly into the stunts like "Earth Hour" benefits no one except those who manufactured and continue to promote the pointless exercise. In fact doing so simply demonstrates the gullibility, ignorance or simple stupidity of the participants.

My lights will continue to burn brightly.

Note that in California it is illegal to have trees that block a solar panel or a wind turbine. No matter that the trees were there first or that the equipment is improperly installed and cannot work in any case ... home owners have been forced to cut or remove trees.

Every time some ignorant joker gets a tax break or some grant money out of our tax trough in order to try his hand at being energy smart we are witnessing our hard earned cash being wasted. Make no mistake about it ... these things do not work as they are advertized to do and without you and I footing the bill 99.99% of the jokers who install them would never do it.

Add to this situation the fact that governments at all levels in their eagerness to appear enlightened (which really means being too stupid and spineless) instead of standing up to green busybodies are caving in. It is because of the organized strategy of green activist groups and useful stooges in the legal and public sector that ordinary citizens end up paying for all this.

You and I should have the right to get our money back.

More to NPR Resignations ...

Could be ... since the folks who ran the expose on them probably do have more video....

Personally, I find the sort of hidden camera stuff just plain sleazy .... but there is much more than just the amateurish espionage performed by James O'Keefe for his ProjectVeritas.org ... that's the same folks who performed the gotcha stings that helped to collapse ACORN across ther US.....

However, it remains to be seen whether there is more to this recent bamboozle at NPR.

Commentary Magazine poses the question "Why would Viv Schiller resign that$500k job over what was essentially an effort to do her job in promoting her company?"

As for the other Schiller ... who is no relation ... same deal. The guy is a millionaire fundraiser who gets paid very well for results .... regardless of his personal opinions.

You have to consider that 80 % of NPR funding comes from sympathetic private donations ad grants. Even if the pols who are going after their funding are successful they are unlikely to actually recover that 20% of forced taxpayer contribution.... probably a percentage of that like 20 percent which would work out to something like a 4% total reduction.

So for the threat of a statistical blip and one mildly embarrasing video ... we get two high profile NPR execs to resign? That does not really add up IMO.

I'm inclined to thin that there is a lot more that these people have to be worried about... whether or not there are videos on the loose.

Even if you look at the sting executed on NPR director of institutional donations Betsy Liley ... who was videotaped conspiring with a guy posing as Muslim Brotherhood rep to conceal a $5 mil donation... that should not affect the other jobs.


I'm thinking that just maybe ... there is a lot more dirt under that roof and the powers that be at NPR are just hoping to cut their loses.

Makes me wonder what we could dig up at CBC .... remember that CBC thing where they claimed they do not have to divulge information about where the spend their money ... or where it comes from?

Global Warming Alarmists Flip-Flop On Snowfall

Sitting in on a March 1 Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) press conference regarding global warming and heavy snowfalls, I couldn’t help feeling like the chairman of the Senate committee questioning mafia capo Frank Pentangeli in Godfather II. The chairman, listening incredulously as Pentangeli contradicts a sworn written statement he had earlier given to the committee, waves the written statement in the air and protests, “We have a sworn affidavit — we have it — your sworn affidavit…. Do you deny that confession, and do you realize what will happen as a result of your denial?”

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Third Assessment Report was as straightforward as Frank Pentangeli’s earlier confession that he had killed on behalf of Michael Corleone. “Milder winter temperatures will decrease heavy snowstorms,” IPCC reported.

That was in 2001. Now, however, with an unprecedented number of major winter snowstorms hitting the northeastern U.S. during the past two winters, the alarmists are clamming up and changing their tune faster than Tom Hagen can fly in Vincenzo Pentangeli from Italy to aid his brother in his time of trouble.

Jeff Masters, director of meteorology at the Weather Underground, and Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center, explained to the media at the UCS press conference why they believe global warming caused the heavy snowfalls in the northeast these past two winters. Masters and Serreze obviously are weather experts. They may be right. Other weather experts, such as John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel, and Joseph D’Aleo, the first director of meteorology at the Weather Channel, disagree with Masters and Serreze. It is also possible that Coleman and D’Aleo are right.

During the question and answer portion of the UCS press conference, I quoted the IPCC Third Assessment Report and asked Masters and Serreze if they were saying IPCC was wrong on the science.

“I would say that we always learn,” replied Serreze. “Have we learned a great deal since the IPCC 2001 report? I would say yes, we have. Climate science, like any other field, is a constantly evolving field and we are always learning.”

While I believe the weight of scientific evidence favors Coleman and D’Aleo, the larger importance of the UCS press conference is not whether global warming causes – in effect – more winter, but what the press conference illustrated about the alarmists’ oft-repeated assertions that “the science is settled” and “the debate is over.”

The IPCC Third Assessment Report was as straightforward as one can get asserting that global warming would cause a decline in heavy snow events. As the Senate chairman would say, while waving the IPCC report, “We have it….” But now that real-world evidence has proven IPCC wrong, the alarmists have pulled an about-face and are claiming global warming is causing more frequent heavy snow events.

Regardless of whether global warming is causing more heavy snow events, the alarmists’ about-face on snowfall calls to mind other alarmist global warming assertions that were supposedly “settled science”, but that were subsequently refuted by real-world climate conditions. The alarmists used to claim global warming was causing more hurricanes, but real-world data show hurricanes have fallen to historically lows levels.



The alarmists used to claim global warming was causing the retreat of Kilimanjaro’s mountain snowcap, but scientists now understand that local deforestation is the culprit. IPCC claimed in its 2007 assessment that global warming would likely melt the Himalayan glaciers by 2035, but IPCC now admits there is no scientific basis for such an assertion. IPCC claimed in its 1990 assessment that global temperatures should rise 0.6 degrees Celsius between 1990 and 2010, yet NASA satellite data show global temperatures warmed by merely half that amount, at most.

For years, alarmists have claimed “the science is settled” and “the debate is over.” Well, when was the science settled? When global warming would allegedly cause Himalayan glaciers to melt by 2035, or now that it won’t? When global warming would allegedly cause fewer heavy snow events, or now that it will allegedly cause more frequent heavy snow events?

We could ask Frank Pentangeli, but Frankie Five Angles is no longer talking.

While driving to work today I heard a bit of blurb on the US budget politics being played out and a proposal to cut funding to public broadcasting corp in the US..... as it turns out the liberal intelligentsia are all over it ......

Kate at SDA has a well placed juxtaposition of the convenient ... as in truth of the moment ... manner so typical of the privileged liberal.

On the one hand public broadcasting receives less than 10 % of its funding from the government (in the USA) ... on the other hand talking about cutting any amount of the 10% is tantamount to child abuse and the end of days for a hopey changey world.

Back in the land of people who actually have to work for a living .... so we can pay our taxes ... and end up subsidizing these little islands of sanctimonious liberal viewpoint ... some of us don't give a crap.
By and large we do not watch the public broadcasters because we do not care for the material they offer ... outside of a few decent concert series .... the bulk of the programming is just rehashed garbage from other sources that nobody would even know about if not for the desperate need for low cost material in the not for profit sphere.

So .... how many people really benefit from US public broadcasting?

I'd hazard to guess that it is a lot less than the 38million claimed by the NPR CEO....

But after all that's America ... and THIS is Canada ... where the CBC gets over a billion$ from the taxpayers every year to sustain a clique of liberal elites who produce nothing of value (unless you happen to be a member of the parasitic class yourself) and they insist on telling us all that this shit is actually sunshine.

And if only this were the end of it! The rest of the Canadian broadcast cabal get hundreds of millions as well ... as if CTV and the rest are not businesses that are supposed to be earning their fair share for the benefit of their shareholders but rather just PBS lite.

Unfortunately this sort of self propagating dependence on public funding permeates the entire broadcast print media. And do not get me started on arts production especially film in Canada.

For my money I'd like to see all these parasites probosces permanently removed from the public flesh. Cut then off 100% .... let them go out and earn their livings ... let them prove by doing for themselves that they deserve to survive.

The article, by journalist Brian Deer, found that important details of the cases of each of 12 children reported in the original study either misrepresented or altered the actual experiences of the children, the journal said. "In no single case could the medical records be fully reconciled with the descriptions, diagnoses, or histories published in the journal," the editorial said. It called the study "an elaborate fraud."

The original article, by British doctor Andrew Wakefield and other researchers, was published in the highly regarded journal The Lancet in 1998. The study concluded that the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine—a mainstay of public health disease prevention efforts around the world—was linked to autism and gastrointestinal disorders.

The findings provoked a still-raging debate over vaccine safety and they prompted thousands of parents to forgo shots for their children. Measles outbreaks were subsequently reported in several Western countries. Several epidemiological studies conducted since the Wakefield paper by public health authorities haven't found any link between the vaccines and autism.

The Lancet withdrew the article in January of last year after concluding that "several elements" of the paper were incorrect. But the journal didn't describe any of the discrepancies as fraud. A British regulator stripped Dr. Wakefield of his medical license last May, citing "serious professional misconduct" in the way he handled the research.

Efforts to reach Dr. Wakefield weren't successful.

Speaking on CNN Wednesday night, Dr. Wakefield defended his research. "The study is not a lie. The findings that we made have been replicated in five countries around the world," he said.

Another Friday T-Storm... and Climate Fraud Report

As I sit here by the window watching a granddaddy thunderstorm lumber by I am amused ....

My gin-n-tonic is nice and cold ... the air wafting through the window screen warm and damp... the sky filled with roiling clouds .... and the deep rumble of constant thunder.

There are a number of storms around the area and the evening sun is illuminating the upper reaches of those that have visible tops.

With this backdrop ... I'm wandering the web a bit and find yet another little storm on the climate science front. Well less science than hucksterism...........

Yet another government agency is busted recently with their fingers on the data base editing tool.
This time it's the NOAA ( National Ocean and Atmospheric Admiistration - USA) brought attention to itself when independent analysts began to notice highly irregular patterns in the data published by the government agency. I'd guess it's a little too likely that when other already discredited groups have been shown to have fiddled the data collection system to make a case for alarmist propaganda that the same patterns emerging from big time public funded science research organizations would be found out.

And quite publicly exposed: NOAA - Satellite Scandal is a Catastrophe!!

Well ... I'd say so! After all, it's pretty tough to market the product you sell when everyone finds out it's as likely to be a fake as it is to be the real deal.

Also, for those activists who have entrenched themselves into institutional science organizations it's going to be extra tough to extract money for research. At least money for REAL research and not just propaganda to be used by other frauds and scammers.

The other large and as yet unanswered question in all this is... Why? When individuals without the benefit of high levels of accreditation or the resources of huge organizations have been on to this for as much as ten years at this point. Why then have those highly self regarding major media and science publications not offered one peep about the obvious?

And to this day the most public hucksters continue to scream and yell about how the "skeptics" are all so stupid and dishonest.
