Jack Layton Raving ....

Yeah I know it's redundant ... but he's been going on about gasoline prices and how he'll stick it to the big bad oil companies.

Try some facts Jack ...

Independent observers who follow Canadian retail gasoline prices say, on average, in 2010 crude costs accounted for roughly 47% of what Canadians paid for a litre of gasoline. On the same litre, taxes made up 33%, refinery operating margin accounted for 13% and roughly 7% was left as operating margin for retailers to cover their operating costs and return a profit. (Source: MJ Ervin & Associates/Kent Marketing Group).

Of note, in 2010 Canadian gasoline prices, including taxes, were second lowest among G8 countries. Due to lower tax levels, the United States had the lowest tax-in gasoline prices among the G8 nations.

Of course facts don't get into the brains of Layton and his supporters ..... so I would not expect anything different. But, just because he is going into his usual bullshit act of feigned outrage I think it deserves pointing out.

The only beef I have with the price of gas is the AMOUNT of tax I'm forced to pay.

Said tax is supposed to be used for ROAD maintenance and improvements and less that 0.01 percent of this money the government steals from us is used for that purpose.

Now ... I do not suppose that the likes of Laytoon would ever consider reducing these taxes to give us consumers a break. Nope ... not a chance because what the commies have always stated on the matter is that they would increase those taxes and include new levies as well.

While spouting off about how evil the oil companies are for charging enough to make a few pennies of a liter of the stuff .... with every word they utter on the matter they are full of shit. In addition to this hypocrisy ... they propose that they can force the oil companies to lower prices at the pump ... in effect saying that they will force the oil companies to operate at a loss.

Two problems .... ONE they cannot do this unless they are in the kind of position Hugo Chavez is in where they can rewrite laws to suit their ideological assumptions. TWO ... the price of oil Before it gets to the refinery is determined by the international markets.

Now suppose that the commies in the NDP actually could do what they say and succeeded!

For a small sample of the consequences .... take a look at Venezuela... and if you look there you will see that there are damned few people left with enough an income that allows them to BUY gas for their cars.

It may be true that you and I get screwed every weekend when the retail gas outlets jack their prices .... but that is NOT the same thing as the oil companies making a killing at our expense on the basic price of fuel.

The measure of support for the likes of people who make these proclamations LIKE Lack Layton does is essentially a measure of the gullibility of people who listen to them.

When left Wing "Think Tanks" Talk Tax!

I normally would not give either the Toronto Star or the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives the least time .... but since the usual lefty tools in the MSM are running THIS PIECE OF NONSENSE as if there's some fact involved.

Singing the usual tired, leftover and rehashed tune that the poor are paying an unfair share of taxes in Canada and of course leading up to an argument that this fictitious situation is the fault of our current conservative government by first blaming Mike Harris. Piling lies and misrepresentation on top of falsehood and inaccuracy.

Show me your calculations fellows because I can prove you are using false assumptions and lying through your teeth! This garbage has been debunked over and over as the tools of socialism have kept up their line of attacking the successful and enterprising and blaming governments for creating an unfair system. Cut the crap.... the only thing these closet commies want is to have the ability to take all the wealth of our nation and dole it out like food rations to a dependent population.

I am NO fan of how taxation is managed in this country but I am less a fan of BS from people whose sole purpose in life is to foment dissent and class envy with phony controversy like this.

Add to that the complete willingness of the leftstream MSM to unquestioningly propagate the garbage that these idiots produce and you've got what passes for "Informing The Public" in our society these days.

But of course to a socialist anyone who is successful in life is guilty of doing so on the backs of the "poor". ...
And so goes the theme from the Toronto Star and the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives ... the avowed champions of "Social Justice"..... students of Marx, Lenin,Stalin and Trudeau.

More ..... Facts on Taxes Tax Day Blues
MSM On Taxes ... Socialist Propaganda

Don't Think GST Cut is Significant?

With corrections... my earlier info was out by a factor of 12!

Send me 1% of everything that you buy then .... seriously!
Leave your contact info here and I'll set up a contract and a transfer account so you can calculate your expenditures and put the appropriate amount.....

Let's say this Economist is right ..... and the average is $13 a MONTH per person. ($156/yr)

Just 200 willing contributors would net me a tidy $31,200 per year and pay for really really nice vacation. Or put my kids through University......

Get me 10 million or so average consumers and that's a tidy 1.56 BILLION bucks for me!

The real thing is that this ALL goes back into the economy!
The economy that sustains our jobs and quality of life ... NOT to the government coffers which are the antithesis of what's good and right for our well being!

Hell yeah!

The Big Lies of the Left!

In case you missed it there have been a lot of politicians trumpeting the line that the growing differential between the richest and the poorest is a major problem. And of course the only solution is take away money earned by the most successful and give it to the least capable.

That's the fundamental platform of the socialist.

That's what they preach in their efforts to promote class envy and paranoia. And that's what they promise to the masses of citizens who see themselves as under privileged.

That's how Garry Doer got re-elected twice. That's how Lorne Calvert got re-elected. That's how Jack Layton got his job.
Well you can pretty well figure out for yourself who else could or should be on that developing list!

Now just so you know what the FACTS are about the so called "Income Gap" here are a few:
With a note that these are US figures - Canada is however, Virtually Identical in this regard!

  • The American families with children who have gained the most in earnings over the past 15 years are ? The Richest? The Poorest? A= The Poorest
  • At the bottom, the poorest group recorded 80-per-cent higher earnings. Adjusted for inflation, these families - the poorest 20 per cent of families with children in the United States - achieved by far the highest percentage earnings gains.
  • The highest earners showed 50% gains and the Middle Income earners the least at 20%
  • Virtually all tax increases have been focussed on the middle earners at the demand of the political left making the Middle class the biggest victims of the so called "Progressives"
The part that is uniquely US though is this:
  • The increase in income was primarily due to increased time working!
  • This was largely given impetus by Welfare Reform that resulted in reducing dependency on State support and increased the incentive to work. The results of that incentive are obvious!
And THE WRITING ON THE WALL SAYS ! More work and less welfare = better living

So what are our "Progressive" activists and politicians continuing to do?

Why of course they are promoting class envy and a paranoia!

Whether it's US Democrats or Canadian Dippers and Liberals it's the same story. They want everyone to believe that they would be better off if the state was running their lives and the economy. That we are all worse off than we really are. That the richest somehow did not deserve what they get. That the line between rich and poor is drawn at the boundary between the middle class and the lower income group. And, most importantly that more taxes will fix all the problems.

ALL LIES!

The MSM Foster's Class Envy! The Steady Drip of Socialist Ideology

These seemingly innocuous little pieces we find in our MSM on a regular basis really do start to get on my nerves!

When I read headlines like this I always cringe. Not a bit of information in this article goes beyond the attention grabbing efforts of the reporter and publisher to extract the immediate emotional response to the classic old Saw that "The Rich Get Richer While the Poor Get Poorer!"

The steady drip of socialist ideology that is being purveyed by our MSM does nothing to contribute to the betterment of our society!

So! Take a look at the information the Canadian Press extracts from a report by StatsCan you would think that their exclamations are a simple fact!

Excerpt: "A new study says the gap between rich and poor is widening in Canada, appearing to confirm that the rich do indeed get richer while the poor get poorer."

"Statistics Canada found that inequality in after-tax family incomes has increased over the past 15 years."

They go on to make points about how the Tax System is Not to Blame and cite some comparisons: "The study says that while the tax-transfer system changed in many ways throughout the 1990s, it reduced income inequality by as much in 2004 as it did in 1989."

The article wraps up with some figures about the top 10% of earning families Vs. the "poorest" !

NOW -
First of all just what is the definition of "Inequality" as CP has chosen to frame the issue? What is the assumption that is underlined by this statement? Are they saying that there is some underlying principle whereby incomes are assumed to be equal or that this is a natural order or that equality in income is somehow the objective our economic system or our society?
What the CP does is let us know that they are socialists who believe this and imply through their context that in fact this is the way things are! Pure socialist propaganda!

Second - The inference in their remarks about the "Tax System" continue this theme. There is no basis for the assumption that our system of taxation has anything to do with "Reducing Income Inequality"! This is another bit of socialist mindset that most would recognize as right out of the little red books of the Marxist/Leninist school of economics. And CP delivers the assertion without a qualm!

For those of us who have not been brainwashed by the Trudeaupean ideology the FACT that we live and work in a Free Market Economy has not been lost! Those Taxes we pay are supposed to be used for the Administration of the Nations Business for the Protection and Security of our Interests and to provide services that we have decided are incumbent on the government!

NOT to provide equality of Income!

The entire bent of the article seems to be completely oblivious to the fact that if incomes in any range have gone up it is In Spite of Increased Levels of Taxation!

So the top 10% of earning families have seen after tax incomes increase by 22% ! Well their effective tax rates have gone up right along with the income! What this tells us is the the market for well educated and highly skilled people demands those skills and will pay for them!

So the "Poorest" ( note how the piece does not identify what percentage of earners this represents) have seen a 11% drop! Well that's the market for uneducated and unskilled workers!

What CP isn't telling is the that all those in the middle who are working harder and may be making more money before taxes are getting nowhere! And that is BECAUSE of the Tax system!

The Writers and Publishers at Canadian press would love us all to believe in their socialist POV and buy into the idea that we are governed by the "principle" of state mandated Income Redistribution. They even have their supporters like Jack Layton, Gary Doer, Dalton McGuinty and and a host of other left wing political asses whose policies help to create even greater difficulty for that middle 80% of Canadian families.

But most of all CP lets us know without any doubt that their politics are what drives the way they present news to the public and their sympathies are NOT with the Canadian taxpayer but rather with the likes of these:

TAX DAY Blues!

VANCOUVER (CP) - Taxes are taking a bigger chunk out of the average Canadian family income than food, clothing and housing combined, a new survey suggests.

The Fraser Institute says the Canadian Consumer Tax Index is up significantly in the past 45 years.

The average Canadian family earned $63,000 in 2006, with nearly 45 per cent of that going to taxes.

Just over 35 per cent was spent on food, clothing and housing.

In 1961, the institute says just 33.5 per cent of income went to taxes.

The tax index includes direct taxation, such as income taxes, sales taxes, Employment Insurance and Canadian Pension Plan contributions, as well as hidden taxes, such as import duties, gas taxes and excise taxes on tobacco and alcohol.

Ha! Move to Manitoba and earn a decent living you get to pay 50%!!
