Last Kick at the Cat for '05
I'll be toasting to a year well spent and a better year to come. Here's to seeing the backside of P Martin and the LPC! Here's to better people running a better government!
Here's to peace and prosperty for all!
OMMAG... Noticed this quote in the news: "It's very important for us to sequence these big initiatives in a way where they don't all just crash at the same time" ......
Some Quotes from A Christmas Carol – by Charles Dickens
`It's humbug still!'' said Scrooge. ``I won't believe it.''
``Why do you doubt your senses?''
``Because,'' said Scrooge, ``a little thing affects them. A slight disorder of the stomach makes them cheats. You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!''
Twenty-one per cent of those who saw the debates or heard about them afterward said Mr. Martin won, compared to 15 per cent who said Bloc Québécois Leader Gilles Duceppe came out on top, 11 per cent who thought Conservative Leader Stephen Harper was victorious and 6 per cent who favoured NDP Leader Jack Layton. ( from Decision2006, Globe&Mail)
What kind of person would take these so called "debates" seriously? And who the heck is answering these polls?

Today My Senses are ASSAULTED BY THIS NEWS!
VANCOUVER (CP) - A B.C. Supreme Court judge has ruled that a section of the Criminal Code that creates the most serious of three criminal organization offences is invalid.
Justice Heather Holmes, saying the section is too vague, made the ruling last week but the judgment had been under a publication ban until Monday. A publication ban remains in effect regarding the name of the accused connected to the ruling. The judge ruled that section 467.13 "is of no force and effect."
There were three amendments made in 2001 to previous legislation regarding criminal organizations, the court noted.
Outside court, the lawyer who challenged the section said the B.C. judge was the only one so far to consider the section's constitutionality.
"The only judge in Canada to have considered the constitutionality of this section is Justice Holmes, who struck it down as unconstitutional," said Matthew Nathanson.
"So in British Columbia, this charge is unconstitutional and off the books. There has not been any consideration of its constitutionality in other provinces. So there is an issue as to: are other provinces bound by this decision?"
Put these three books together and you will have the tools to understand and deal with the forces in our world which are constantly working to capture our attention or alter our perceptions and point of view on every aspect of life. If you would learn to rise above the babble of day to day events then these books are for you. If you would have your children learn to deal with manipulation then read them and use them to educate your children. I would recommend these books to secondary school sophomores and up. All three books demonstrate how to take apart complex issues, analyse the root causes and overall effects. Beyond being practical demonstrations of intelligent analysis they are filled with thought provoking insight and information.
Not recommended for those who would live like sheep.
1- The Hidden Persuaders,
Author: Packard, Vance
Publisher: Penguin Books Ltd, 1991
This book looks at the application of psychology in mass media marketing.
Taking a look at the hooks and prods that are applied to the psyche of the individual in our society. Should be a primer for every school child on how to recognize manipulation and how to deal with attempts to manipulate them.
2- Manufacturing Consent, Noam Chomsky and the Media
Author: Noam Chomsky/ Mark Achbar
Publisher: Black Rose Books
This book looks at the work of Noam Chomsky and an analysis of bias in mass media, mainstream media and the effects of bias. Why is there so little effort to present balanced and complete information? What are the ramifications?
3- Culture of Complaint, The Fraying of America
Author : Hughes, Robert
Publisher: Havill Press 1999, Oxford University Press 1993
Food for thought and enlightening POV on culture in North America.
This book looks at how media has polarized America and how the general move toward specialization and away from solid foundations of core values has left a weakened and shallow society. Although the author wanders around some diverse areas the book is very enlightening.
Well it seems we will all be able to sleep safely in our beds now!
Since Belinda Stronach has come to the conclusion that She is our Guardian And Protector of Canadian Unity. ( Uhuh!)
Her political defection in support of the Liberals had nothing to do whatsoever with the rewards promised her by Paul Martin! ( Sure )
Oh yes the beloved Belinda is now our staunchest defender of Canada and of human rights. She has become a giant of politics comparing herself to such political luminaries as former Canadian prime minister Wilfred Laurier, former British leader Winston Churchill and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon as examples of successful politicians who switched sides. ( WOW!)
She goes on to accuse the conservatives and leader Steven Harper of dividing Canadians.
When? I ask you, will these Liberal Hypocrites admit that the divisiveness and discord that exist in this country are the result their own Policies and Incompetence?
Ms. Stronach’s delusions of grandeur aside isn’t it just a little bit arrogant to have held political power for the better part of 40 years and especially for the last 12 years then turn around and try to blame the opposition for the failings and problems of our society?
Once again my friends what we are hearing is the Blatant Arrogance and Hypocrisy of Liberals in their belief that they and only they have the right to speak for Canada and for Canadians!
It is time to Stand Up for Canada! And the best way to do that is to Elect Conservatives and give the Liberals the Boot!
Well after spending quite a while looking for info on "The Strategic Counsel" I finally got to the source of my dilemma! It did not help that the Globe&Mail misspelled Counsel as Council several times.......but the play on words does make sense.
After an e-mail exchange with Columnist Charles "Chuck" Adler it was him who tipped me off to Allan Gregg!
Now Allan is the "Chair" of the group : The Strategic Counsel is the exclusive supplier of public opinion research for the Globe and Mail and CTV. Copies of results of our monthly polling, along with our analysis and insights are posted at the Website: www.thestrategiccounsel.com
© 2005 Gregg, Kelly, Sullivan & Woolstencroft: The Strategic Counsel
(Not to be confused with "Strategic Counsel" a California based legal and advisory services company!)
And, for ongoing insights from chair, Allan Gregg, you can visit his website at www.allangregg.com.
Well here we go with more blatant Liberal Media Bias!
Go See for Yourself.......

Taken From Friday's Globe and Mail Go see It !
Today the Globe & Mail and CTV published results of an opinion poll that they or something called “Strategic Council” paid for.
Like past media sponsored polls the results provide a convenient appearance of support for the Liberal POV!
The new poll result provides the anti – conservative headline and buzz that “Harper has a negative image” with the subtext that “ Canadians Don’t Trust Harper”.
No mention is made of how the poll was conducted or what questions asked or how they were framed!
Wasn’t it “The Strategic Council” that produced the chestnut of “Harper is Scary” last time around?
And wasn’t it the “Strategic Council” that produced a poll about a month ago that came up with figures that claimed The Liberals enjoyed better than 45% of the popular vote in Western Canada! And that the BQ got as much as 18% Outside Quebec!
I’m handing out a GLC award to Bell GlobeMedia and whatever/whoever the hell is the “Strategic Council”!
Note: GLC = Giant Load of Crap
