Paying For Monuments

When it comes to flim flam and flummery it's hard to find anyone more dedicated to the practice than Gary Doer.

Unless maybe you take a look at Gail Asper.............

Back in 2008 in regard to Doer's glib promise of over $280 million from Manitoba Crown Corporations ...... for the Benefit of Gail Asper .... I wrote:

So what has changed since then?

Well, not much except that the Asper group has finally had to admit that there is no way they are going to cover their costs. Or that they even knew what the costs are going to be or will know for that matter. No problem says Gail Asper ..... we have "asks" she says.

That and willing politicians who play the roll of sucker on behalf of the public ... still preapared to keep dishing out YOUR money for THEIR friends.

Now, I believe that Izzy asper was a great business man and a great Manitoban.
And I think he deserves a memorial to his achievements.

His achievments however have NOT ONE THING to do with the"Holocaust" or human rights.

And there is no way that the people of this province owe him or his family millions of dollars to be funelled into a bottomless pit called "The Human Rights Museum" for the sake of HIS legacy.

And yet these parasites persist in abusing their influence in order to make sure that Manitoban Taxpayers and Hydro Customers and Autopac customers and MLC customers well be gouged at every oportunity to satisfy their personal whims.

Tell ya what Gail and Gary etal .... just cough up a few bucks out of your own purses and buy a nice plaque!

And try to keep your sticky fingers out of OUR pockets!

Poisoned Pill Pushers !

Doer and The Dippers .....

The concept of a "poisoned pill" in a business deal is that the board of a company that is under pressure to be taken over by rivals will take on some form of debt that will kill the deal for their rivals and hopefully scotch the deal for them.
In politics it's a government that knows it's on the way out that spends every last dime they can and makes long term commitments that will impoverish incoming governments for the foreseeable future. Like other past NDP governments this is exactly what Doer is doing.
Boondoggles like immense cost overruns on Hydro Projects, the Floodway expansion overruns, the proposed West Side Hydro Bipole III power corridor and it's inherent waste and the unchecked pillaging of the bank accounts of crown corporations like Hydro and MPI.

Another multi-million dollar waste of Manitoban's money and a long term commitment that will be on the books for decades to come.

Manitoba PM Gary Doer announced on Monday that four Manitoba Crown Corporations will be donating as much as $265 million to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Doer says that he simply suggested that the crown corps pony up some money for this project those organizations just followed through with their 'conscience'.

Never mind that the Manitoba Public Insurance, the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission, the Manitoba Lotteries Corporation, and Manitoba Hydro directors are political appointees.
Never mind that Doer and his Dippers have been using the crown corps as their piggy banks for the last 9 years.
Never mind that under the NDP there are NO government departments that are working as they should. Never mind that your health care dollars are being squandered by regional health authorities without any useful oversight from this government. Never mind that Doer and his pals allowed thousands of Manitobans to have their retirement investments ripped off without any recourse through the Crocus Fund. Never mind all that !

Just go along with Gary Doer and bask in his stupid grin as he sells you out and writes cheques on your future.

You think your Hydro bills or your Gas are too high? It's going to get worse.
You think the government take on liquor and Beer is high now .... just wait.

So what will be left when this grinning idiot and his band of spendthrift cleptocrats finally get turfed?
Debts! The largest and most crippling debt this province has EVER faced.
So who will be stuck with MANAGING that debt ... well of course it will be the Manitoba Conservatives ! Conservatives who because they believe in good governance and responsible management will be FORCED to cut programs, to penny pinch and to TAX.
Conservatives who will require the crown corps to MANAGE their operations responsibly.
Conservatives who will do what is necessary to fix the problems created by the Doer government of incompetents.

This is the poisoned pill that Doer will leave behind. And you might ask To What End?

Well simple as this .... the gullible and the NDP loyal in our community will be convinced that the NDP are the only ones who will support those ideas of what are GOOD causes. They will look around and see that the economy is in a shambles and that the Conservative Government is taking things away. They will conclude with the help of our local media that .... of course it's the fault of the Conservatives that their lives are crap and it's all costing them too much. In return they reward the NDP with another government somewhere down the road. The only question is whether there will be time to undo the harm that has been inflicted by this one.

Our Happy Socialist Paradise - Olympic Fever

The ancient Greeks believed fire was given to man by Prometheus, and thought it had sacred qualities. Eternal flames that burned in front of Greek temples, flames were lit from rays of the sun. And so.... The Olympic flame is lit in front of the ruins of the Temple of Hera in Olympia, shining light on the eternal connection between the ancient and modern Games. Light, in fact, is considered to be associated with the concepts of truth and upright morality, purity of spirit and mind etc....

Got That? Sacred... Gift of the Gods... Eternal...Rays of Sunlight... Truth... Purity...?




Of course .... the spirit of the Olympics is secondary to the opportunity for local yokels, who deem themselves your betters, to get their own fat faces out of the trough just long enough to take a picture with the symbolic Olympic torch.

During its stay in Manitoba, before heading further west to its ultimate destination next month, the Winter Olympic Games, several notable people will carry the torch including Premier Greg Selinger, University of Winnipeg president Lloyd Axworthy, former Olympian Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, Ben Moss president Brent Trepel, Gail Asper and CTV/TSN host Brian Williams, who has covered the Olympics since 1976.


Yeah sure................... Manitoba's major Olympic sponsor is CanWest Media.



But ..... What's Eddie the Eagle doing here in Manitoba... with this bunch of turkeys??

Today In Winnipeg

Gail Asper .... gets a full page in BOTH our local newspapers to give a sales pitch for her pet project.

You know the one where she has collected plenty of "Owes" and a bunch more Taxpayer's money!

It seems that a few people are getting under her skin (good) as they start asking for explanations about how she .... or rather .... WE ... are going to pay for
Her Monument to vainglory!

And people wonder why I have such a low opinion of the local media!

Well ... It's not JUST the local yokels ... Mike Duffy .... got used by a PEI paper that basically sent some young reportlet to interview him ... got no imformation because they asked no questions .... then made up a story about the Dufster having made grandiose promises and speechifying away.

Of course we could always talk about the CBC or CTV and their version of "Fair and Balanced" news coverage..... or the endless stream of nonsense they produce in leiu of actual facts and news.

You know ... it's not so much that these people in the media are really dumb ..... it's that they think we are all dumber than THEM!
