Bureaucrats & "Policies"

“We do not allow weapons in our schools for any reason,” said Ottawa Carleton District School Board spokeswoman Sharlene Hunter.

A remembrance day event in Ottawa has been cancelled for the time being because the school board bureaucrats have a "policy" on weapons.

Of course the policy they are talking about was obviously one of those post Columbine kneejerks which  spread like wildfire across the world following that event.

I have long held the opinion that one of  the reasons school boards and school administrations are so prone to taking politically correct stances and making them policy is that it provides an easy way to effect simple ass covering measures and avoid taking responsible positions that might have to be explained or actually thought about from time to time.

The Ottawa school decision is a perfect example of this. After all... guns are dangerous and children should be protected from danger.  The school and the school board get to pretend they have done something noble by enacting the ban while simply creating a blind to hide behind in any issue that involves weapons. Now from behind the safety of their curtains (hear no evil - see no evil ....) they self righteously conflate a military commemoration and national tradition with an act of psychotic barbarism.

Of course ... in the world of the petty bureaucrat ... this is simply them being brave and firm in applying the "policy". A policy that quite obviously relieves them of any responsibility for the consequences of such blind enforcement .... quite conveniently.

The end result being that in order to get their own way they succeed in nothing but arbitrary and unwarranted abuses.

The Canadian author is taking Councillor Doug Ford to task for comments he made last week about libraries and Atwood's role in stirring up support to keep them from the city's budget chopping block.
Ford was asked last Tuesday about the growing campaign, spurred by Atwood, to urge councillors to spare the Toronto Public Library from cuts.


"The most staggering thing about (Ford's) statement is that it implies that only councillors (not voters, not taxpayers, not citizens) are allowed to voice any opinions," she wrote.

Too Much Cheering Over the CHRT Ruling

Many observers noted the critical language of the CHRT in suspending the hostile attacks on Marc Lemire and others.
This changes nothing in the larger sense because the tribunal can call the legislation whatever it wants to without affecting the fact that the legislation still stands.
They may have made it a lot harder to justify continued abuses of the depth we have recently seen.... but that does not change the fact that the law stands and that HRCs operate outside the law with impunity and that this very tribunal continues to hold court.

The tribunal is only another pseudopod of the bureaucrat's club and has no legal powers to affect law. They are nothing outside of the realm of their own little circle. I am sure their hope is that the politicians will grasp at the convenient bone they have thrown and simply alter the despicable law to limit the penalties they refer to. But let this be understood, the root of the problem is not the penalties, as wrong headed as they are, the fundamantal issue is the power given to these bureaucrats.


A moral victory for Marc and others who have been abused by these self righteous bullies.
The decision is only a weasel's way out of being forced to defend their abuses in a real court.

No law has been changed and if you read their comments on the law per sec.13 of the CCRF ... they are only criticizing the fact that the law has penalties attached to it. On that basis they claim it is wrong.

Never a thought given to the fact that the entire concept of the legislation is wrong or that their own little clique is an affront to our democratic and free heritage.

Mental Illness in the eyes of the CMA is something which must be defended and of course anyone who views the mentally ill as a potential threat to themselves or society must be viewed as a bigot of sorts.
As if having a healthy concern over being accosted or worse by schitzos and criminal psychopaths left wandering our streets courtesy of the concern and caring of our activist social meddlers is now the evidence that they needed all along to justify telling us that WE are the problem.

And Lord help you if you should decide that protecting your family from the stigma of mental illness is in their best interests..... yeah crazy aunt Jane should be outed and her suffering celebrated.

I guess that goes for cousin Chester the Molester too and while you're at it go check in on little Johnny and get an inventory of the cat decapitations .... just remember it's not his fault that all the pets in the neighbourhood just keep disappearing... nor is it wrong that skinny Joey the Pyromaniac is on the loose nor quiet Bob with his syphilis and assorted other charming infections who likes to think that little girl down the street is secretly hoping he will take her to his special place.

There's Trust Issues !

I am at a loss to understand or explain this fiasco...

Imagine if you will* a parent called to school to be to be told that Child And Family Services had been called to investigate a report that her child may be sexually abused!

Now imagine that you already had more than enough on your plate with that same child being autistic.

Now imagine that the basis for this complaint is that an educational assistant assigned to baby sit your child at school made this report based on something her PSYCHIC told her during a "consultation" !

Well .... that's what happened to Barrie Ontarion resident Colleen Leduc.

From the Barrie Examiner ...

" The mother of an autistic girl says the public school board was "completely unprofessional" to formulate a theory that her daughter was being sexually abused based on a psychic's perception.

Barrie resident Colleen Leduc wants an apology from the Simcoe County District School Board, which called in the Children's Aid Society (CAS) to investigate. According to the board, the case is still under investigation, although Leduc says it was closed.

Leduc immediately pulled her 11-year-old daughter, Victoria Nolet, out of Terry Fox Elementary School in north-end Barrie."

"I have trust issues now," Leduc said. "What are they going to concoct next week?"

I'd say you should have trust issues! Like why should you trust your child to a school who's teachers, staff, administration and board are all so thoroughly incapable of differentiating between an episode of "Medium" and reality that child welfare officials are called upon to investigate your family.

This does not speak well either for the level of sense being used at CFS either.

You should be demanding a lot more than an apology Colleen!

UN Wants World Farmers to Help Developing Countries - NOW!

Laughable .... After 50+ years of the meddling busybodies at the UN taking our money and throwing it around the Third world (while Lining their own pockets) like it was fertilizer and seed. Trillions of dollars of aid money with NOTHING to show for it.

All this without any appreciable results except their own well lined pockets and millions of starved human beings!

They suddenly insist that those of us who can actually accomplish things like having an agriculture industry MUST do something NOW!!!!
