If a climate scientist falls in the forest, does anybody hear? Not if the old media have anything to do with it. Thankfully, in 2010, their hold on the news has started to weaken. But it’s not like they didn’t try. For more than five months, from Nov. 20, 2009, to April 1, 2010, the broadcast networks did all they could to hide a crisis in the climate alarmist movement.

That first event, now called Climate Gate, has grown into a series of global warming scandals that have shaken faith in both the science we are fed on a regular basis and the scientists who do the feeding.

This week in Chicago, the Heartland Institute is bringing together the Fourth International Conference on Climate Change, a meeting of hundreds of scientists and policy experts who dare to challenge so-called conventional wisdom on global warming.

Instead of having a meeting, they should be having a celebration.

Not that they’ve won. They haven’t. But for the first time in many years, there is a public understanding that our daily diet of climate propaganda might be somewhat or even entirely bogus. That’s due in a large part to the embarrassments that came out of the initial Climate Gate report where e-mails from University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit (CRU) were leaked to the world.

Those e-mails, and a separate document showing the shoddy data gathering done by those involved, included thousands of messages showing the potential manipulation of temperature data, a willingness to destroy information rather than release it under British Freedom of Information (FOI) law and the intimidation of publications willing to publish skeptical articles.

The most famous of the e-mails included this line for CRU Director Phil Jones to Penn State scientist Michael Mann. Climate geeks know Mann for his hockey stick graph of global warming, which has been key to climate alarmists and even cropped up in Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth.”

Jones wrote Mann, saying: “I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie from 1981 onwards) amd [sic] from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline.”

An e-mail from Kevin Trenberth, head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and lead author of three IPCC climate change reports, said this memorable comment: “The fact is that we can't account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can't.” Oops.

While Jones had to temporarily step down, the left continues to try and white wash the whole episode.

Fred Singer: My skepticism about global warming is purely based on the observed evidence − which shows no appreciable warming while there had been large increases in greenhouse gases. I feel that scientific criticism is the most responsible sort of thing − both from the point of view of science and from the point of view of national policy.
Daily Bell: In 2006 you were named by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation as one of a minority of scientists said to be creating a standoff on a consensus on climate change. Was this an unfair charge?
Fred Singer: The CBC forgot to mention that thousands of scientists hold the position that I hold and therefore not a "minority" of scientists, at least not a small minority.
Daily Bell: You argue there is no evidence that global warming is attributable to human-caused increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide, and that humanity would benefit if temperatures do rise. Why do you feel this is a responsible position to take?
Fred Singer: As far as we can tell, the increase of CO2 has not been producing corresponding warming. For example, there has been no warming in the 21st century − despite the large increase of greenhouse gases.
Daily Bell: You are an opponent of the Kyoto Protocol and have said of the climate models that scientists use to project future trends that "models are very nice, but they are not reality and they are not evidence." How is it possible that so many scientists can be so wrong while you are correct?
Fred Singer: I am one of many who oppose the Kyoto Protocol, both for scientific reasons and for economic reasons. It is basically a political document, a treaty based on climate models rather than observed evidence.

In 1988, a handful of the scientists who passionately believed in this theory won authorisation from the UN to set up the body known as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This was the year when the scare over global warming really exploded into the headlines, thanks above all to the carefully staged testimony given to a US Senate Committee by Dr James Hansen, head of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS), also already an advocate for the theory that CO₂ was causing potentially catastrophic warming.

The disaster-movie scenario that rising levels of CO₂ could lead to droughts, hurricanes, heatwaves and, above all, that melting of the polar ice caps, which would flood half the world’s major cities, struck a rich chord. The media loved it. The environmentalists loved it. More and more politicians, led by Al Gore in the United States, jumped on the bandwagon. But easily their most influential allies were the scientists running the new IPCC, led by a Swedish meteorologist Bert Bolin and Dr John Houghton, head of the UK Met Office.

The IPCC, through its series of weighty reports, was now to become the central player in the whole story. But rarely has the true nature of any international body been more widely misrepresented. It is commonly believed that the IPCC consists of “1,500 of the world’s top climate scientists”, charged with weighing all the scientific evidence for and against “human-induced climate change” in order to arrive at a “consensus”.

In fact, the IPCC was never intended to be anything of the kind. The vast majority of its contributors have never been climate scientists. Many are not scientists at all. And from the start, the purpose of the IPCC was not to test the theory, but to provide the most plausible case for promoting it. This was why the computer models it relied on as its chief source of evidence were all programmed to show that, as CO₂ levels continued to rise, so temperatures must inevitably follow.

One of the more startling features of the IPCC is just how few scientists have been centrally involved in guiding its findings. They have mainly been British and American, led for a long time by Dr Houghton (knighted in 1991) as chairman of its scientific working group, who in 1990 founded the Met Office’s Hadley Centre for research into climate change. The centre has continued to play a central role in selecting the IPCC’s contributors to this day, and along with the Climate Research Unit run by Professor Philip Jones at the University of East Anglia, controls HadCrut, one of the four official sources of global temperature data (another of the four, GIStemp, is run by the equally committed Dr Hansen and his British-born right-hand man, Dr Gavin Schmidt).

In short every politician and activist who has been promoting this scam has been doing so to satisfy their own personal goals .... they have nothing of value to offer the world because ...

They are FRAUDS.

On Thursday afternoon, the ten groups that petitioned EPA to reconsider its finding that carbon dioxide emissions endanger public health and welfare received notice that the petitions have been denied. This was not unexpected.

The notice quotes the May 2010 report of the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences, Advancing the Science of Climate Change:

"[T]here is a strong, credible body of evidence, based on multiple lines of research, documenting that climate is changing, and that these changes are in large part caused by human activities... . Climate change... poses significant risks for – and in many cases is already affecting – a broad range of human and natural systems."

The June 5, 2010 TWTW’ Science Editorial discussed this report. “The report … claims that the climate is warming and that the cause is human.” “The first claim of this federally funded $6-million exercise is meaningless and trivial, the second claim is almost surely wrong. Their recommendation is that the United States should put a price on carbon to staunch emissions of CO2; it is pointless, counterproductive, and very costly.”

Clearly, the leadership for the National Academy of Sciences has placed that venerable organization in the camp of those demanding expansion of government power and control over the American economy. This entire exercise requires abandoning knowledge of the earth’s history.

The EPA notice opens with this sentence: “EPA determined in December 2009 that climate change caused by emissions of greenhouse gases threatens the public's health and the environment.” [Bold face added] The Constitution discusses protecting public health and welfare, not the more nebulous term the environment which could be used to justify regulation of virtually all human activity.

The response to the petitions is some 590 pages long. In addition to the NAS study the notice references other studies including the IPCC Assessment Report, the 2009 study by the U.S. Global Change Research Program and a NOAA study released on July 28, 2010, no doubt especially prepared for the occasion. Also the notice references the three British inquiries into Climategate, the Netherlands assessment of the IPCC report, and the Penn State investigation of Michael Mann. It will not be a quiet August for those who have petitioned the courts to review the EPA endangerment finding.


This fight is not over by a long shot!

Dr. Reid Bryson - Father of Climate Study

Dr. Reid Bryson is the guy who wrote the book on climate modeling.
He was on CNBC this morning answering questions about the "Debate" on global warming.

I wonder how many moonbat heads exploded ( assuming any of these types watch business and financial news reports) .
The gist of Dr. Bryson's POV is that the IPCC 'consensus' is hokum and politics deliberately misrepresenting and overstating the information and selectively ignoring facts.

Bryson... "Consensus is not science!"

On the politics - Getting a bunch of people to join a club that has a one reason for existence does not produce anything but the result that was intended.... a bunch of people that keep repeating the club's reason for existence.
On research - As soon as you stop questioning and looking at all sides of a field of study you are no longer engaged in science but something else.

AGW ( anthropogenic global warming) as in caused by man? Mans ability to influence this amounts to a fraction of a percent which BTW he stated in 1968 when HE first proposed that researchers should consider man's impact through factors like pollution, terrestrial manipulation and energy consumption/production.

Green House Gasses (CO2) again tiny fractions of a percent in contribution to capture of heat where he stated that even in relation to water vapour CO2 is contributing only tiny fractions of a percent to the overall effect.

Asked repeatedly about Al Gore ... Bryson had no comment.... but did have a smirk.

Basically, to Dr. Bryson, Al Gore is not worth commenting on !

Asked pointedly about whether AGW does exist and about accusations that he is on the wrong side he said that in the first place it was his recommendation that the effect be studied and that those who are currently promoting as a major factor are simply wrong.

About global warming he says that we are just as likely to be heading into a cooling period.
Asked about climate modeling he said that you can make any factor appear to have a major impact by simply picking and choosing your data further that he's done it himself over many years and learned from it.

Asked pointedly whether global warming exists he said yes and so does global cooling and everything in between. In the big picture the forces at work are far too large to even consider that human activity has any more than a minimal effect.

Asked about his detractors he chuckled a bit and said that while those who suggest that he is in the pocket of industry or government would like to suggest that his having funding affects his work today or ever has in the past the only task he has ever had is to find the facts to the best of his ability and to report what he finds. To tell the truth about it.

End of story!

Now consider the behaviour of the climate hystericals in contrast to this man.

Global Warming Alarmists Flip-Flop On Snowfall

Sitting in on a March 1 Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) press conference regarding global warming and heavy snowfalls, I couldn’t help feeling like the chairman of the Senate committee questioning mafia capo Frank Pentangeli in Godfather II. The chairman, listening incredulously as Pentangeli contradicts a sworn written statement he had earlier given to the committee, waves the written statement in the air and protests, “We have a sworn affidavit — we have it — your sworn affidavit…. Do you deny that confession, and do you realize what will happen as a result of your denial?”

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) Third Assessment Report was as straightforward as Frank Pentangeli’s earlier confession that he had killed on behalf of Michael Corleone. “Milder winter temperatures will decrease heavy snowstorms,” IPCC reported.

That was in 2001. Now, however, with an unprecedented number of major winter snowstorms hitting the northeastern U.S. during the past two winters, the alarmists are clamming up and changing their tune faster than Tom Hagen can fly in Vincenzo Pentangeli from Italy to aid his brother in his time of trouble.

Jeff Masters, director of meteorology at the Weather Underground, and Mark Serreze, director of the National Snow and Ice Data Center, explained to the media at the UCS press conference why they believe global warming caused the heavy snowfalls in the northeast these past two winters. Masters and Serreze obviously are weather experts. They may be right. Other weather experts, such as John Coleman, co-founder of the Weather Channel, and Joseph D’Aleo, the first director of meteorology at the Weather Channel, disagree with Masters and Serreze. It is also possible that Coleman and D’Aleo are right.

During the question and answer portion of the UCS press conference, I quoted the IPCC Third Assessment Report and asked Masters and Serreze if they were saying IPCC was wrong on the science.

“I would say that we always learn,” replied Serreze. “Have we learned a great deal since the IPCC 2001 report? I would say yes, we have. Climate science, like any other field, is a constantly evolving field and we are always learning.”

While I believe the weight of scientific evidence favors Coleman and D’Aleo, the larger importance of the UCS press conference is not whether global warming causes – in effect – more winter, but what the press conference illustrated about the alarmists’ oft-repeated assertions that “the science is settled” and “the debate is over.”

The IPCC Third Assessment Report was as straightforward as one can get asserting that global warming would cause a decline in heavy snow events. As the Senate chairman would say, while waving the IPCC report, “We have it….” But now that real-world evidence has proven IPCC wrong, the alarmists have pulled an about-face and are claiming global warming is causing more frequent heavy snow events.

Regardless of whether global warming is causing more heavy snow events, the alarmists’ about-face on snowfall calls to mind other alarmist global warming assertions that were supposedly “settled science”, but that were subsequently refuted by real-world climate conditions. The alarmists used to claim global warming was causing more hurricanes, but real-world data show hurricanes have fallen to historically lows levels.



The alarmists used to claim global warming was causing the retreat of Kilimanjaro’s mountain snowcap, but scientists now understand that local deforestation is the culprit. IPCC claimed in its 2007 assessment that global warming would likely melt the Himalayan glaciers by 2035, but IPCC now admits there is no scientific basis for such an assertion. IPCC claimed in its 1990 assessment that global temperatures should rise 0.6 degrees Celsius between 1990 and 2010, yet NASA satellite data show global temperatures warmed by merely half that amount, at most.

For years, alarmists have claimed “the science is settled” and “the debate is over.” Well, when was the science settled? When global warming would allegedly cause Himalayan glaciers to melt by 2035, or now that it won’t? When global warming would allegedly cause fewer heavy snow events, or now that it will allegedly cause more frequent heavy snow events?

We could ask Frank Pentangeli, but Frankie Five Angles is no longer talking.

They Lied ... They Continue to Lie ... They Are NOT Scientists ... They Are Activists

 

What the graphic above demonstrates is two important facts about what the IPCC frauds have been doing for 20 years.

The first is that the focus of their hyperbole is an artificial statistical view that is intended to magnify the appearance of a warming trend in support of their own claims and with the intent of bamboozling the numerically incompetent.

The second is that even in the light of other ascending trends over time there is not one example of such camparisons in any of the climate hysteric's presentations. In fact .... even this example fails to go back to previous geological eras where the earth's surface temperatures were much higher than we have seen in the last 500 years.

Or the last 5000 ..... the longer cycles show that we are more likely to be going into a new cooling cyle.

I'll take warming over freeezing any day. But one thing is for sure ... it warm or cold ... it will not make one bit of difference to the climate if you drive gas guzzling SUVs or not drive at all.
It will make no difference whether you get your electricity from the sun, from water falls and rivers, from windmills or from burning coal.

The climate system of this planet is far too large to be measurably affected by your use of fuels for energy.

London-North-Centre MP Glen Pearson is one of two MPs scheduled to attend an Al Gore led Climate Project Canada training session this weekend along with 200 or so other Canadian "climate change fighters." Pearson is concerned that interest in the environment "appears to be taking a back seat to the economy."

(Sun Media) Pearson and fellow Liberal Mauril Belanger (Ottawa-Vanier) are the two MPs attending, said Victoria Serda, a Port Elgin environmentalist and one of the key organizers for the Climate Project Canada's training session.

The Climate Change Ponzi for Chumps

As I said over two years ago .... the ambition of the governments that began supporting climate change action initiatives was not to make the world a cleaner or better place to live.

It was always about the UN dream of moving western capital to the third world by coercion and stealth. A dream of undermining the foundations of western economies and supplanting the will of democratic governments with the authortarian rule of an untouchable bureaucracy.

Where the stealth fails the coercion kicks in. Under tax regimes that overburden manufacturing and energy producing industries (sticks) combined with taxpayer funded incentives (carrots), the big government types are prepared to force the western taxpayer (you sucker) to pay for the relocation of western industries to Asia and other points east and south.

Under the guise of the IPCC manufactured consensus of science the UN and a host of willing thieves have conspired to impose their will on the economies that sustain this world.

We have just one example (not a lone case) of a business that couldn't afford to say no to the MOB.

In Britain ...
Earlier this year, Corus – part of the Tata Group Europe - disclosed that its UK steel inventory was "close to exhaustion" and analysts are expecting improved earnings from second-half trading as production is increased to meet a rebound in demand.

So in a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation the steel manufacturer choses 1.2 billion $ in Euro funds as a bribe to shut down and play ball with the EU and their pals.

The shareholders get a one time palm greasing and the business is gone along with the jobs and the future prospects for thousands.

If you need examples from closer to home just take a look at the avalanche of failures in California that the Obama adminsistration is hell bent on rewarding with the tax dollars of the American public.

So far here in Canada it's limited to providing life support for failed industries in the once "Golden Horshoe" but don't think for a minute that we are imune.

When even our so called Conservative government sends a "Climate Huckster" off to join the other hogs at the trough in Denmark ... you are damned close to having your future locked into the same fate.

The game plan of the malignant socialists in cooperation with the haters of humanity in the Green industry is the de-industrialization of the west and along with that goes the future of your children who will be doomed to a life without any hope of prosperty and servile dependence on the state.

And if you do not understand what that means .... go read some history... to make it simpler for you read some history of the USSR or Pre 1945 Germany.

Flummery: Meaningless and deceptive language.

I've been trying to explain to people for years the reality of the global temperature for the last 10 thousand years. Both atmosphere and ocean temperature histories are misrepresented by the climate change hucksters who have consistently ignored data that negates their claims while misrepresenting other data to support their biases. 

Lately they and the news media have glommed onto some data about ocean temperature history and come up with this chestnut:

In a reconstruction of Pacific Ocean temperatures in the last 10,000 years, researchers have found that its middle depths have warmed 15 times faster in the last 60 years than they did during apparent natural warming cycles in the previous 10,000.

Not So!

 As shown clearly in the graph that was a part of the documentation in the study discussed in these reports, the little red circle highlights the period from the mid 20th century to present that the frauds are using to justify their hysterical claims. When the interval is viewed in a closer perspective of six hundred years (1400-present) the slope is obviously less than several events in that period.

When you take a look at the larger 10 thousand year graph ... the scope and the precipitous rate of historical changes in ocean temperatures is even more apparent.

I short ... the article that is cited in various media and being cheered by the hysterics and climate fraudsters is being entirely distorted (lied about) and there is no justification at all in the data for any of the outrageous claims being made about "unprecedented" change.

Bad enough that "know nothing reporters" and media editors use this type of inflated nonsense to promote sales of their dreck to an uniformed and mostly uninterested public. The fact that these so called scientists are willing to do the same is a disgrace.

The fact that political leaders allow themselves to be influenced in policy or to politicize these matters  based on the flummery of activist frauds and pig ignorant news media is outrageous and unacceptable.

Heartland Institute responds to stolen and fake documents 


Yesterday afternoon, two advocacy groups posted online several documents they claimed were The Heartland Institute’s 2012 budget, fundraising, and strategy plans. Some of these documents were stolen from Heartland, at least one is a fake, and some may have been altered.

Well ... who is surprised by this development?

As the NOAA and UN IPCC climate science fraud continues to unravel some of the more industrious "skeptics" ( a term which should be understood to mean "realists" from now on) have been searching through the records that have been used by the so called scientists behind this massive and very deliberate confabulation.

Where to Start? In Canadian broadcast media we have the CBC ... CTV ...The Weather Network ... and Discovery Channel who's programming has been chock full of propaganda in support of climate alarmism for the last two years. All carefully timed as well to increase the level of hysteria in the lead up to major political events such as the last conclave of the heavily invested scammers in Denmark.

Not to mention virtually every local media outlet and newspaper, every national magazine and newspaper and so on.

And of course the icing on the cake where politicians of all stripes have been seeking ways to capitalize on this scam:

It turns out that beside the widely documented abuse of data from US based temperature stations that are proven to be located in heat islands across the continental USA and/or improperly maintained....

That many of the measuring locations are also just being ignored!

It seems that across Canada all but ONE of the Arctic temperature recording stations data have been chucked out and Half of the High Elevation (above 3000 ft) recordings. Just coincidentally it seems that South American Andean mountain observations have likewise been chucked from the data records. In a similar trend, we have recorded the scandals of the China observations which were shown to be falsified (reported records where NO recording sites ever existed) and the Russian reports and the African reports and the Indian glacial melting fiction.

CBC Shilling For Gore Evangelical Climate Crusade!

With the news today of these two LIberals having volunteered the taxpayers Time and Money to participate in the new evangelical campaign of Climate Fraud Huckster Al Gore .... It was only a matter of time before the CBC got on the bandwagon and started beating the drum!

This afternoon on CBC Newsworld .... Newsreader Suhanna Marchand bubbled and even giggled while interviewing a Gorite Fembot about this weekend's "Training" event in Montreal!

Displaying all the enthusiasm of newly indoctrinated Scientologists the pair literally gushed over the Speaking Prowess of The Gorical while reiterating the thought (sic) of how important it is to Learn about Global Warming and how Gore himself is the greatest source of information and knowledge on the issue!

After I stopped retching .......... I manged to locate the TV remote and kill the instrument.

Another Friday T-Storm... and Climate Fraud Report

As I sit here by the window watching a granddaddy thunderstorm lumber by I am amused ....

My gin-n-tonic is nice and cold ... the air wafting through the window screen warm and damp... the sky filled with roiling clouds .... and the deep rumble of constant thunder.

There are a number of storms around the area and the evening sun is illuminating the upper reaches of those that have visible tops.

With this backdrop ... I'm wandering the web a bit and find yet another little storm on the climate science front. Well less science than hucksterism...........

Yet another government agency is busted recently with their fingers on the data base editing tool.
This time it's the NOAA ( National Ocean and Atmospheric Admiistration - USA) brought attention to itself when independent analysts began to notice highly irregular patterns in the data published by the government agency. I'd guess it's a little too likely that when other already discredited groups have been shown to have fiddled the data collection system to make a case for alarmist propaganda that the same patterns emerging from big time public funded science research organizations would be found out.

And quite publicly exposed: NOAA - Satellite Scandal is a Catastrophe!!

Well ... I'd say so! After all, it's pretty tough to market the product you sell when everyone finds out it's as likely to be a fake as it is to be the real deal.

Also, for those activists who have entrenched themselves into institutional science organizations it's going to be extra tough to extract money for research. At least money for REAL research and not just propaganda to be used by other frauds and scammers.

The other large and as yet unanswered question in all this is... Why? When individuals without the benefit of high levels of accreditation or the resources of huge organizations have been on to this for as much as ten years at this point. Why then have those highly self regarding major media and science publications not offered one peep about the obvious?

And to this day the most public hucksters continue to scream and yell about how the "skeptics" are all so stupid and dishonest.

Ok? Why?
